That wasn't apparent to me until he did unclip us. It sure felt like it took longer to clip in once in the plane. I guess if I had freaked out on the way down at 120mph... he could have just said laaaaaaateeerrr as he uncliped ![]() |

The first one is easy, that is why I have not jumped a second time. |

props for doing the jump! but i'm curious, why did you take the 'ling off? what exactly were you worried about happening? i'm thinking if the 'chutes failed, the last thing i'd be worried about is my watch! ![]() |

So Mario, the big question - would you do it again? |

Wearing an SA is like wearing a breeze-block on your arm! ![]() ![]() |

Nice going Mario! Quote: The first one is easy, that is why I have not jumped a second time. Me neither. Did it once about 20 years ago from 2,500' on a tethered line but having ticked the "Done it" box, I can't get excited about doing it again. That said, free fall must be a much bigger rush.Never done hang gliding though.... ![]() |

Yes in fact I have a thread on one of my car clubs where I am trying to organize a jump and drive day (it's off of the same canyon road I crashed my R1 on, which is fun for cars too ![]() I took the ling off because I saw the instructor doing a superman to introduce himself. It's where you come in fast in the superman position. He had his chest and toes touching the short grass at like 30mph for a good 100 ft. At first I screamed holy bleep look at the crazy bleepity bleep! Everyone looked at him in awe and crazy excitement. He gives the controls a slight tug and just like that he's on his feet light as a feather. Before I got to say anything else another instructor grins and says "Mario, that's YOUR instructor" hence why I looked nervous for a second, then promptly changed my underwear and took my baby off my wrist ![]() |

As I said earlier, I have jumped once. My original job in the Marine Corps was Aircrew Survival Equipment or commonly know as a Parachute Rigger. As part of the final exam, you had to inspect, pack and jump with what the Marine Corps and Navy calls an NT-7 Chute. The jump was from 3500 ft AGL, pull your own rip cord. I actually froze at the door for a second and the Jumpmaster slapped me on the butt... I went forward...out the door...could'nt climb back in at that point. I had my eyes closed I counted to 3 opened my eyes in time to see the tail of the aircraft pass over me and I pulled the rip cord. You had about a 3 to 4 min ride down and its quiet floating down to the ground. Never had the desire to do it again. |
