Hello Ling fans, Being a Breitling owner is a way of life... not simply a materialistic thing to own and show off. Owning a Breitling signifies you are keen on antique transport preservation... it means you appreciated beautiful things (from ladies to cars)... it means you don't necessarily do things for "popular approval" or simply on a "fashion whim." The big question is.... WHAT OTHER THINGS DO YOU COLLECT? I am sure many people here will have similar interests. WHAT DO I COLLECT? I am technically insane - I will buy Louis Vuitton briefcases even though I already own 3 LV briefcases already. But then I will buy 2nd hand shoes/clothes to save on money. MY COLLECTIONS 1) Watches ![]() ![]() 2) Louis Vuitton ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 3) Jewellery - Diamonds, Pearls, Gold, Antiques ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 4) Steam Toys - Mamod, Wilesco ![]() ![]() ![]() 5) Hornby O Guage - sorry no photos yet. 6) Any type of vintage toys ![]() 7) Writing instruments - Mont Blanc, Cartier, Dupont, Parker Duofold ![]() 8 ) Cartier clocks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 9) And of course..... WIVES.... I have been married 3 times. Current Wife (the best of the lot - a definate keeper) ![]() |

No disrespect, but Archie.. how many different times are you going to post your "collection" of stuff (that amounts to mostly NOT watches and mostly NOT Breitlings) here on the forum. I have seen these pictures several times spread around in various different threads and frankly the continued posting due little for our BREITLING forum.... especially in the "Breitling Discussion" thread. You seem to think that we are severely impressed with your purse collection and such. Personally, I am not. I collect all kinds of things as well, but I collect them for ME, and not to strut about showing them off to others. Sorry to be blunt, you just come off as very superficial. |

Hello ! Thanks for the smack in the jaw.... ![]() I have never posted quite a few of the pics that I did in this posting...... I HAVE NEVER POSTED THE STEAM TOYS, CARTIER CLOCKS, PENS, and my wife.... It feels really good when I open my heart ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I suppose this is probably more for NAVITIMER people than this new "trendy" element..... |

Oh, Archie42. You do seem to inspire strong responses. I admire your ability to keep it lively! As to your question, I really do not collect anything. I have some nice things that I have to use and enjoy (sports car, Breitlings, boat etc..) but have never been a collector of things. Well, I take that back, I do have a small firearm collection -- 20 or so, but I use them all. ![]() ![]() |

Hey Archie, Nice collection you got there but be very careful; this is a public forum where IP addresses can be picked off by those in the know ![]() |

Well I think I could probably claim to be a 'Navitimer guy' among other things, but I can't claim any affinity with you Archie. I don't collect briefcases, purses, jewellery, steam toys, train sets, vintage toys, writing instruments or Cartier clocks. I am still with my only wife and have been since before my 22nd birthday. I don't believe that people can be compartmentalised in this way - we are all unique individuals who happen to like similar things - Breitlings in the case of those of us here. Even there we are different - you consider the Old Navitimer to be an iconic example of the range, but it wouldn't be in my top 20. That's OK, it just reinforces the fact that we are all different. |

Pardon me, but to be perfectly honest, I've had more than enough of your ranting, especially after you made such a pointed comment with regards to being "trendy". Now I feel compelled to address you directly. I would be willing to bet that a large number of the members, maybe better than 95%, of this forum, bought Breitlings for a number of different reasons. Maybe they are pilots, and feel close to the brand, or maybe they wanted a timepiece, with a nice storied history, that is a work of art and dependable beyond comparison...or perhaps they wanted something that they knew would be around for generations to come, to enjoy. But a select few bought them for the reason that you bought yours, and the rest of your toys, notice the lack of quotes. Your comment about being for the "NAVITIMER people" is moot, as everyone appreciates and collects some things. I own a Breitling, possibly one of the "trendy" ones you may be referring to, but I'll be damned if let some guy, come into these, Breitling forums, and try and downgrade which model I own, because he feels that his collection of toys, and purses, and women, isn't appreciated like the vulture that he is. I've read your posts, about "...dealers being sharks..." and referring to yourself in third person, and this and that, and to be honest, after the first post I read of "archie42", I was annoyed. Check your history book, slick, should you be collecting those, and see that Louis Vuitton has never been known for their fine leather, but they've always been "...highly regarded for name recognition in the fashion world..." id est, "trendy"...You didn't buy those purses for your "heart", you bought them for one of your "wives"...similarly, you didn't buy those steam toys to play with, as they were intended, many moons ago, you bought them to display, to whomever would look at them, and praise you for a job well done. Bottom line, put on all of that jewelry, kiss your wife, check the time, I'm sure you've a clock or watch that'll tell you, pick a pen, any pen, and write someone a letter detailing how wonderful your collection of stuff, really is, and then put it in one of those briefcases...get the old steam engine fired up, and send it air mail via your toy airplane...or post all of this in the proper gallery, and quit your bragging on! |

I am not sure if this counts as a collection, but I do "collect" books. I am trying to assemble a personal library. |

...and now for some weird collections... 1. Hats (all black). Do you know how hard it is to find a black genuine pith helmet? Got one! However, there is one that doesn't fit in the collection - a signed red DEVO energy dome (wonderful)!! 2. Trench Coats -leather, wool, cashmere. I even have a canary yellow one (and yes, it does go with my yellow Emergency + UTC) 3. Pens - Fountain of course (Lamy, Monte Grappa, Mont Blanc, etc.) 4. Zippo lighters - Presidential series, Armored, antique, gold, sterling silver... (good thing I'm a smoker so they get used) Perhaps it's the obsessiveness... |
