For now I collect die cast cars. I have some nice ones. I dont know though if i should consider an e46 m3 2000 or 2004 year model or e90-93 2007-2008 . i fell in love with the e46 when i saw it..when i was younger...any suggestions guys? thinking about the convertible for a die cast. http://www.bmwblog.com/2007/06/20/bmw-e46-m3-vs-e92-m3/ i know the new one the e92 has bigger and lighter v8 twin turbo but e46 looks meaner

I have a few AutoArt die cast models as well. I love the Subaru's etc. I even have a focus signed to me by Nicki Grist (for you WRC fans). My favorite is the B4B display I have.

nice mario..looks like the same one in the breitling for bentley catalogue back in 2000 Lemans endurance...so whats your take on my dilemma? |

There are tons of deals for E46's out there. There is a BMW dealer in town I drive by all the time and their prices are tempting! As for the diecasts, you should buy both and stare at them for a while.  For the real thing and considering where I live I would have to go with a convertible. The 2008 M3 I looked at was a convertible as well. Here, I would use it all the time

My younger bro has an 08 M3 (White with carbon fiber roof). He lives in Las Vegas and is a professional poker player. He left his 07 335 with my parents as an extra car to have while he is not in Vegas. Over holidays and various visits to my parents, we usually fly and will just drive his 07 335. It's a great car and a blast to drive. I know it came with turbos, and he put larger turbos on, but thats about as much as I know. As for his M3, I will be in Vegas some time in the next 6 months and cannot wait to drive it in the desert, if he will let me! |

I have a buddy with a modded 335 as well. And to be honest they can easily be made to be faster than the M3... problem is, it's still not an M3

i have an E46 M3 04 plate and prices are terrible i have lost a ridiculous amount and mine is currently for sale!! buy now if you have the cash is m advice lots of car for the cash |

I once lost 22K in depreciation in 4 years on an E38 Sport I had. It was a fantastic car........ right up until I came to trade it in.... and at that point I fell off my chair! Mind you, I bought it when it was about 18 to 20 months old and the orginal invoice showed that the previous owner had lost £34K in depreciation during that time!  So on that basis, my depreciation was quite reasonable!!

Trade-ins are always horrible. The only route to go is to try to sell your ride off to an individual. |

nah makes me want to earn enough money that thats just a rounding error!!! its all about perspective plus have enjoyed each and every of the 32k miles i have done in 2 years and seeing as only 50% were work related that was some fun mileage hehe 50p a mile in depreciation does suck though |

Sticker was just shy of £100,000. When it came to sell it four years later he couldn't get any interest. It had come out by that time that the early S Classes had some reliability issues (which he experienced to my benefit!) so resales were especially hit. One Audi dealer offered him £10,000 for it The US market is currently superb for picking up high end cars if you don't mind having one a few years old. Top of the line Mercedes are going for pittance. I saw a $170,000 new 2006 S65 AMG go for less than $40,000 on ebay a few weeks ago My uncle in the UK who buys a lot of high end cars said a Bentley dealer was offering him a Continental GTC with less than 1,000 miles on it for half the list price!!! It really is a buyers market! |

Yep, local used car dealers are the same around here. $120k cars that are a couple of years old selling for $35-40k

Yeah if you're happy to run the gauntlet of high fuel bills (which if you live in the UK is nothing new anyway), there are some superb bigger-engined beasts out there for peanuts. I was looking at a BMW 645Ci the other day - couple of years old, lots of Sports kit on it (seats, suspension, etc), less than £15K GBP! That's a LOT of car for that kind of money. As I said before, most people here in the UK, run a mile from used cars with bigger than 2 litre engines. Certainly 2.5 litre is the max most will entertain. Personally I've always liked the big stuff - the largest I've had is a 4.4 litre V8 - and it's great because people let them go for next to nothing (relatively speaking). |
