What will be your watches to buy for 2009?

I want a Ling and an IWC

Strangely I am leaning towards more SA´s again... I had an idea to collect all dials/versions earlier this year, but I settled for a blue baton version and a Chronomat. But the more I wear my SA I fall in love with it. The Chronomat is a perfect dresswatch, but I am not "dressing up" that often so... and the SA is better for my size (I am 205 cm tall).

I am thinking a blue baton, a white arabic and a blacksteel... what a SA trilogy!

We´ll see...

hmmm, i would really love Navitimer in rose gold, black croc strap and black dial. now that would be the business.

failing that, a nice yellow faced emergency with co-pilot module will leave me more than happy.

Exactly. I suspect a lot of my luxury budget will be going to fund the poor choices of others.ImageImage

Well I did my dream watch list for next year in Driver8's thread a few weeks ago, but let's suggest a couple here:

The first (but not last) BreitlingSource LE
One or two of the LE anniversary pieces that Breitling announces at Basel

My ever changing list now reads -

Chrono-matic 49 - But I may hold fire till post Basel, as I still have a nagging 1% doubt about the rubber bezel. If it was ceramic (and especially if the crown was on the left, where it should be!) I'd be all over it immediately!

IWC Big Pilot - expensive but well worth it IMHO.

I still also really want a Zenith Defy Classic Open, but I've kind of got the TT version into my head now, which is RIDICULOUSLY expensive...... so that may have to wait.

Lastly, all of this could be knocked into a cocked hat depending on what Breitling come up with at Basel! I can't wait!

That may be wise - my guess (and that's all it is) is that with next year being the 40th anniversary of the first automatic chronograph - the Chrono-matic, as well as the fact that it's Breitling's 125th and the fact that the regular Chronomatic has disappeared from the Chronolog, there may well be a LE / one year production SE of this watch.

Beautiful watch, but I found that the crown digs into my wrist excessively... not too noticeable at first then after an hour or two I was like "something is poking my wrist"... probably one of the most uncomfortable watches I've ever worn, unfortunately :(

Maybe its my wrists though.

For me the wish list is:

IWC Pilot Chrono of some sort
IWC 5001 Portuguese
Rolex Yachtmaster, New DJ or Submariner/Deepsea
Bentley Lemans
Bentley Flying B
Franck Muller Master Banker or King Conquistador

I've wanted a lot of these watches for a while... right now I am most interested in acquiring a Rolex of some sort.

Nooooo! Don't do it Admin! You'll regret it!!! LOL! Just kidding........., but it's bound to wind up the Rolie boys!

In all seriousness the Deepsea (or the GMT Master II) is the one to go for because the hollow centre links on the bracelets and the clasps on the older style models will irritate the hell out of you after wearing the likes of Breitling, IWC, etc. Sad but true..... but as I say the GMT Master II and the Deepsea both address these problems very nicely.

I think it probably depends how you wear your watches. I always wear mine above the wrist bone and tight enough not to slide about, so no matter how much I bend my hand back I never find the crown digging in. Sure, I've not worn a Big Pilot for long enough to see if that's the case with that model, but I don't think it'll be a problem. As always I'm prepared to have a hefty slice of humble pie if I'm wrong!

Yeah.. I wear my watches above the wrist bone too, but with strap watches, I tend to wear straps looser than bracelets.. dunno why? So the watch works its way past the wrist bone and starts diggin. But if you do wear it tight enough not to move you might not have that problem.. Also the crown on the big pilot is especially pokey for some reason :?
