Breitling Pens are odd things on the Bay. A few weeks back I sold my 2008 black pen for £85. (Basically I didn't like the quality as much compared to the older marble effect versions). However I saw one go for a slightly crazy £165 GBP a week later, and I think someone here said they saw one go for £195! And yet today I saw a 2008 black pen go for just £27! They seem to have a very bizarre fluctuating price range.... more so than other items I've noticed.

Oh, and I managed to snag myself a yellow marble one the other day in the "Mystery Box" for a good price too! :woohoo:

So now I'm happy with my collection of 3 marble pens (orange, brown and yellow), and with the exception of a couple of freebie hats, that's as far as my Breitling merchandise is going to extend! So I'm not going to be challenging Mario for his merchandise crown just yet!

I got the 2008 balck pen in my gift box from Govberg last week and I was really surpriseed. It's a nice pen, but given some of the prices they have been bringing I was expecting more.

I guess it's partly due to Christmas and the relatively limited availability, but auctions can be strange things - I'm a big believer in not getting too hung up on a specific item because that's when you do end up spending too much - I speak from experience!

Ooooh yes! Remember, I'm the guy who once paid £60 (plus P&P from the States) for the original Chronolog 1! :?

Roff, I'm with you on this one, I've never seen one of these pens, but for that money, I'd rather buy a Cross or Mont Blanc pen, they make fine pens, Breitling make fine watches! I'm always amazed at what people pay just to have a logo stamped on the front!

It's a bizarre sickness that fuels my OCD... I must have more! LOL

No seriously, I'll do this until someone sicker comes along and buys all that I have :P

Very true - I have a Mont Blanc Starwalker and it's superb, but then it did cost close on £300. I've paid £40 to £60 on a couple of Breitling pens (in addition to a couple my AD gave me free) and for that sort of money I've been quite impressed with them.

Very true:

I saw the smaller yellow one, with the rounded end, go for about £12.50 around a year ago - a week later a similar pen went for £127 - 10 times as much and it wasn't as complete as the first one!! Crazy.

I didn't bother bidding for the 1st one - thought it was a bit too much - not seen any on the bay since. Boo hoo!
