Post subject: | New Year - New Job |
Just confirmed yesterday that I'm off to Italy in the New Year to start a new job. I'm starting on the 7th Jan at Scuderia Toro Rosso - Formula 1 team in Faenza, Northern Italy! I'm a big F1 fan so this may be my dream job - Inspection/Quality Control of the composites and mechanics on the new car for next season. No - I don't know if I'll get free tickets! It's a contract role which tends to cover the development work in the off season period - so if all goes well it will be an annual migration for about 5 months of the year - December to March/April. Anyone else in a similar line? ![]() |

A mate of mine who is coming on the same job said just that - you hold your breath throughout the race and worry if something you've worked on goes bang or falls off. ![]() May have to split my support next season - Lewis of course and anyone called Sebastian. |

Have they finalized Bourdais and Buemi then? I thought Sato was still in the mix. Either way, I'm sure my firm knows a heck of a lot about Formula 1 if there are more openings ![]() |

Sato is testing again next week so still no confirmed team - not for the drivers anyway. Thanks taffytoon - yes, I've been toying with a move into this line for a while but Oxford & Woking never had the right pull for me - this is a bit special so didn't hesitate on this one. Hell of a drive from Glasgow tho' ![]() |

Well - that's a month into the new job - the latest news was expected: http://www.tororosso.com/Team/Sebastien ... is/News/x/ Good that the team is sorted now - just got to get the car built now - launch soon (ish). Ferrari supply only the engine (their input stops where the gearbox starts) for this beast - I can assure you Nick that the rest is pure Toro Rosso/Red Bull. It's really cool being able to see the bits of the car pass through the inpection department and start to see how it's going to look - bit by bit. Buemis' helmet has been in for a couple of weeks getting checked for the neck brace attachments etc - no doubt one in Bourdais colours will appear soon! So - I'll get some pics on when I can - I tried to attach one of Buemis skid lid earlier but it didn't work - must check the instuctions next time! |

Congrats, must be a dream job. Hopefully we'll see on TV a happy Breitling face near podium this season, wishing one rally maniac here. |

Thanks Mario - yes it's nice to be "back" as it were. My web access is a little slow but I will keep an eye on the forum as much as possible. Not able to carry out my "eBay policing" duties as it takes too long! As far as "hating" jobs - don't feel too down about it RJRJRJ - I've had loads which I hated too - I've been self employed for 13 years and I've had some crap contracts in that time. "Blinkers on and think of the money" is my motto. Good result with the rugby today - England 34 v 11 Italy - My boss thought it would be worse so at least he won't be too pissed at the English on Monday ![]() |
