My wife and i were just watching Good Will Hunting the other day and saying how fantastic he was in it. I'm genuinely sad.

Personally I was never a huge fan of his movies, with the exception of Good Will Hunting (in which he was superb) and Insomnia (in which he played a truly subtle and creepy baddie), but in real life he was apparently a really decent, caring and genuinely nice guy.

I read something about how he went to see Christopher Reeve right after Reeve's horrendous accident, and Williams dressed up in a surgeons scrubs, and entered Reeve's room saying in a Russian accent that he was his proctologist and must examine him immediately. Apparently Reeves laughed for the first time since the accident and later said in his book that that moment had shown him that somehow he was going to be OK.

Proper clinical depression is a truly horrible thing. To think that a guy who would apparently always do all he could to cheer others up, got to a point where he was prepared to do something this drastic to escape life, knowing full well the hurt that it would cause his family...., well it just goes to show how terrible and under-recognised depression is. Very sad.

I saw that photo the other day with a Breitling on an OR strap. I didn't want to post it because of the sensitive nature of the situation. I wasn't a huge fan of his work either aside from Good Will Hunting which he was incredible. More work needs to be done to help those suffering from depression, very sad to see someone take their own life.

My favorite movie of his was Good Morning Vietnam. I still have the soundtrack CD. Although I was there a few years after Adrian Cronauer I thought the movie accurately represented the futility of the situation and the indifference the military machine had to the people they sent there.

Actually I initially thought that was a Breitling also but found a better pic.

I was going to say Top Gun!!! I actually looked at my old photos of my top gun doople earlier because I thought the pushers and bezel ring looked way too similar to the TG....but then I thought why would he be changing straps and who would put a dive strap on a aeronautical watch. There goes my theory but I had a feeling it could be a TG.
