Got it, like the new features, dislike the new icons, and disappointed it somehow managed to wipe some of my apps data that I need for work during the upgrade process.

All up, a step forward for Apple, but a disappointing upgrade for me given the troubles it's caused on my phone.

It definitely runs faster on the 5. That should alleviate that issue a bit. The other thing I have heard from people is that it looks like apple copied android a bit for the icons. But who cares. It is how they respond, not what they look like that matters. At least to me.

I upgraded an iPhone 4 we have in the family, and our iPad 2. I like the new features, but don't like the icons. I'm holding off upgrading my iPhone 4s until I get more familiar.

One of the things I hate the most is the change in how the folders appear. In iOS 6, the app folders would be black (very dark grey) squares with silver borders, and the tiny icons inside. Now they're these light colored, non-bordered boxes. Is there any way to change the appearance of just the folders?

No. However there is now no limit to the number of apps you can put in a folder. While the appearance is different, the function of the folders has greatly improved. As you can see here. The folder will take on a color shade from the wallpaper -

I love the subsonic delete speed of email messages!!

Oh yeah, and I second the sentiments regarding the cartoonish esthetics of the apps/folders.

I went ahead and updated my iPhone 4s too. Still getting used to the new colors and such. Appearance is okay. I like the new features.

One thing I can't get to work consistently, though, is swiping up from the bottom to open up the new control center, of whatever they're calling it. I can only get it to open one time in every 10 tries or so. Gets rather frustrating doing it over and over. And this is happening on my 4s, my 4, and my iPad2, not just one device.

Hope they sort out the security flaws soon. Quite nervous knowing anyone can access my phone data without entering the PIN.

Just upgraded Miss Wessa1, Miss Wessa2 and Mrs Wessa's iPhones, the seem to like it.
They did not like it when I said that they now look just like my Android :-)
A few people in the office said the same thing, looks like Android.

There are more holes than this. For example the swipe up menu. You can use it to access photos, contacts, post things to social media etc.

I don't get this whole worry that people have. Even if the scanner can be hacked, they still need a nice example of your fingerprint to do it.

The truth is that a 4 character pass code is pretty weak security to begin with, and the fingerprint just makes accessing your phone easier.

In reality, if your phone goes missing, you'll have blanked it long before anybody has time to pull this stunt off. (Assuming that the claims are actually true)

People also need to get in the habit of singing out of social media then singing back in, as opposed to always leaving themselves signed in. If your phone can be hacked by a perp, at least all your accounts would still be password protected. Personally I think the biometric scanner would be more secure than numerical password unless you go farther into the case sensitive numerical/alpha combo.

I'm not talking about the fingerprint scanner. I'm talking about the swipe up menu that allows you to access all the data on the phone. I won't post instructions on here, but you can get into the phone by swiping up and using a combination of the options here to get at all the data without a pin.
