I'm not talking about the fingerprint scanner. I'm talking about the swipe up menu that allows you to access all the data on the phone. I won't post instructions on here, but you can get into the phone by swiping up and using a combination of the options here to get at all the data without a pin.

I know what you are talking about.

First, I'm sure there will be a patch.. Not an excuse but an answer
Second, not many people know how to get to your data through this complicated method.
Third, you can ease your mind by disabling the control center at lock screen.
Lastly, where are you leaving your phone so unattended that being "hacked" is such a great threat?
I've never used a passcode, travel the world and here I am, still not losing any privacy or data to strangers. I think you are over reacting to posts on blogs and not being realistic.

Now let's talk about battery life......... There's a realistic issue to worry about!

Thank you for taking the time to reply. However, having had two iPhones stolen from me you can forgive my concerns. I didn't realise I could disable it, but I have done now, thanks.

You're lucky that you've never needed a password, and I prey that remains the case. There's no worse feeling than having a mobile phone stolen from you with all your personal data just sitting there waiting to be lifted from the phone. I don't think I am over reacting at all, and I am sure if your phone was stolen from you that you would think twice about leaving it unlocked without a passcode.

Now, don't get me started on battery life...

I'm glad I could help with disabling the control center from the lock screen.

Everyone is different and has their own concerns. I was assuming that you (like me) panicked when you first saw the exploit. Obviously you have more reason for concern with your past. I hope your phone stays safe with you from now on. Thanks for the explanation and good luck!

I'm finding no difference with battery life, but I have the 5, not 5s, if that matters. I am regular about closing out apps and have drop box turned and WiFi turned off so there isn't a constant search for a signal. I turn WiFi on when it is accessible.

find my iphone is now protected by yr. Apple ID, so it can not be turned off like before; if it gets stolen, you can be sure to be able to erase your data:
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2701

enough for me

do not see worse battery performance either (auto update for apps turned off).

I did have to pull the Mophie case out of my briefcase today during two depositions with an extraordinarily long-winded lawyer. Occupational hazard.

I updated to IOS7 last night, and I really like it. I was a bit nervous after reading and hearing various bad things about it, but after updating it I'm frankly wondering what all the fuss is about!

As far as I'm concerned it looks a bit nicer and a bit more modern, and functionality has certainly improved in certain areas. There's more superfluous animation to things IMO, but I'm not seeing any change in battery life over IOS6. It seems to use white backgrounds a lot more in the this version, so that will obviously drain battery life a bit more, but so far I'm not seeing any difference.

So (at the moment at least) I think it's a good upgrade, but hardly the Earth-shattering step-change that Apple may like to have us believe.

I have the 4s and uploaded ios7 last week. Generally slower especially using the search bar in safari and on Facebook. Battery life.....absolute shite, you can nearly see the battery die as you watch it. I don't use the phone anymore than I did last week but the battery life is defo worse. I fully charge when sleeping and by dinner time guaranteed everyday the battery will be half way down!! Didn't have this problem before.........Quite a few of my friends having the same issues too but it seems people with the 5 don't have the same problems.

Thankfully my contract is up so ordered a 5s yesterday. Hope it works better than the 4s!

7.0.2 is now out and is supposed to fix the issue with the lock screen "hack". Just a heads up!

I've not updated mine yet, but I've heard from a lady I work with that while it looks nice it drains battery life like you wouldn't beleive. Great.

I downloaded the update today on my iPhone 5 I can't believe how fast it drains the battery, I hope the 5s has improved battery life

For whatever reason, after installing the update the bluetooth was default in the on position, that could contribute to the battery draining faster than normal. That being said I have an iPhone % and haven't noticed any change in battery life whatsoever.
