You'd have thought the lady involved would've preferred to keep a bit of a low profile after that...... but I guess not. |

The Aston looks perfectly driveable to me, but it comes down to "economical viability" of repair. To be honest the car manufacturers don't help matters by making OEM parts and official network labour so expensive. If OEM parts and labour were cheaper it'd be more likely to be a viable insurance repair. As it is it'll no doubt be written off as a Cat D (I can't imagine there's anything on that that will be Cat C), repaired by someone other than an approved Aston repairer and back on the roads in a month. Things like this certainly don't help premiums, but they're small-fry compared to false and exaggerated whiplash claims, and claims farming by professional criminal gangs. I've been involved with the insurance industry in the past and I've seen figures on this, and the true cost of a claim has increased exponentially over the last 10 years as a result of that kind of activity. I'm certainly not sticking up for the insurance companies here, but not many actually turn much of a profit from motor insurance these days : the vast majority of their profit is from investments, and other insurance income streams. Motor is a ridculously competitive market, especially with the prevalence of aggregator sites these days, that encourages people to pick the lowest priced policy. |
