I have a Tag Carrera on E-Bay and have domestic shipping as my only option but an individual from both Ireland and the UK have inquired about shipping. How difficult is shipping a used watch worth less than $2.5k?

It shouldnt be so difficult - usually Fedex or DHL has an agreement with local taxauthorities to take care of the addition tax and handling, in the country you send it to (the buyer is charged the handling fees and the additional tax). So if you go to Fedex or DHL they should be able to help you.

I just recently shipped a watch to Ireland from the US. I sent it via Global Express Mail and it arrived to the new owner in about 5 days with no problems. Even the customs forms are listed and you can fill them out online and then print. The only issue is that with GEP, there is a limit of $650.00 insurance, so DHL, FedEx or UPS will offer you higher insurance rates. You can get an estimate from their sites as well, but you will need the city, postal code and county in Ireland to do so on the site. It will give you an estimate of pricing as well.

I would make sure to state to the buyer that you are not responsible for customs duties and you cannot estimate those. Those costs, if any, would have to be borne by the receiver in Ireland.

Im pretty sure fedex and ups have an insurance limit on international shipments. I think it was $1000 or something like that, but I might be way off.

You also may want to take it to an authorized UPS/fedex store and have them pack it for you. Its a rip-off for sure, but at least you can point the finger at them when UPS says something was your fault.
