So I decided to get my daughter an iPad for Christmas and, as I am want to do, picked one up for myself. Best Buy Geek dudes put on the screen protector the sales person suggested. But they both have about 200 bubbles in them.

I am on the verge of just removing it. I plan on getting cases. My question to all you seasoned iPad jockeys - do I really need a screen protector? I wouldn't go without one on my iPhone, but the the iPad won't be with me all or most of the time like the phone is. I opted for the WiFi only models as I wasn't too keen on adding even more monthly charges to an already ridiculous monthly Verizon bill.

Will I regret it if I "do it without protection?" Oh I hope not.

I've never had a screen protector on my iphone or ipad over the past 3 years. Infact, never even had a case on the iphone (have a case on the ipad 1 that folds out and doubles as a stand) and I've never had a scratch or cracked screen. Whenever I use my friends iphone's/ipads with screen protectors it just never feels, or looks, right.

So I say tempt fate, live free!

(oh except for the Tardus sticker on the back of my iPhone... now that's essential!)

I've never had a screen protector on my Ipad and I've it almost a year now and the screen still looks new. We've taken our Ipad on trips but I've got a nice folder type case with padding that protects it pretty well.

Ill be the lone guy and say that I have a screen protector for the iPhone and iPad. I use the protectors from Zagg. Pricey but they are the best IMO. Easy to put on and lifetime warranty. Just feels better too when I touch the screen. I hate that slippery feeling.

Ok... That didn't sound right.

lol!

I use a screen protector on my iPhone although they are pretty worthless...if something is going to scratch the glass (which is hard to scratch), the screen protector isn't going to do much. The main reason I have it is for anti-glare functions, so I agree with everyone!

all said, actually; not using screen protectors on any of my iDevices; u break screens (by dropping your iPhone once or twice too often and on the wrong surface), but never scratch them.
advice would be to get the Apple Smartcover for the Pad; early hiccups solved, great to use.

iphone, yes. ipad, nah. Its normal to drop a phone. Drop your ipad regularly and youre a dumb ass.

BTW, i pretty god at applying iphone protectors, but I tried an ipad a few months ago and it was a freaking nightmare. I was trying to help a friend out and I ended up having to buy them a new protector.

I used to use Zagg on my iphones.. I just hated how after a while the corners would peel and pop up. I know they have a lifetime warranty, I have used it several times. I decided to go commando on my phone and it is the best decision I made in a long time. The screen is clearer and I feel like I can be more precise without it on (it seemed like my finger would get "stuck" and then jump sometimes). I have never put a protector on my iPad. It just doesn't get scratched with keys etc. I use the apple leather smart cover along with a "incase" sleeve. I think it's a great way to go and my iPad still looks brand spankin new. Now... my wife's iPad is a different story, my daughters are all over that thing, and we have it heavily protected with a zagg and a pretty tough leather book style case. The only problem is that the heavy duty case takes a nice thin light weight device and "bullkifies" it.

The Zag ones are what Best Buy talked me into. You have to use water on the underside of the film and on the screen. But they looked like crap! So those are off the iPads. I also had them put a Zag on my iPhone and I usually use thinner ones I get from Verizon. But I may be pulling this Sag on off my iPhone as I am not liking the texture of it - too thick and sticky feeling.

I guess I was influenced by my former HTC Droid - I never used a screen protector and that screen got scratched to hell to the point is became worthless. It never occurred to me that wouldn't happen with an iPhone screen.

If you have young children (which you don't) then the iPad screen protector and case is a must. I can't believe the amount of food/drink and dropping a young child can do to an iPad

My iPhone is another matter. Used a case and protector for 2 years and am now without; I don't miss it at all.

The regular "cut" Zaggs do that. And then I bought the one cut for phones that have phone cases. Basically the edges are cut a bit smaller. Problem solved. I've had mine on for over a year now. I guess I'm one of the few that like the anti-glare and the non-slippery feeling.
