It has been 11 years since Alex Zanardi lost both of his legs at the terrible accident in Lausitz when Alex Tagliani ran into Zanardi's car at over 200 mph, slicing off the Italian's car front section.

But the spirit of competition has never left Alex Zanardi. In fact, that is what kept him alive all these years. After competing at the WTCC for 5 years, he was really tempted by this year's Paralympics. And despite his 45 years, he won the gold medal in handcycle.

I have nothing but admiration and total respect for this man.

Winning. Must be in your blood I guess. Thankfully there was a liter left after his bump.

I am in awe of this amount of courage.
