...Need help. I seldom part with my World, but need some advice.

I am about to embark on a Windstar Cruise sailing trip to Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Bodrum, and then 3 days in Istanbul. I plan on spending the days on each of the islands. Just not sure how wise it would be to wear my watch. Is anyone familiar with these places and the safety level in wearing my watch?

Thanks for your insight.

the islands are very safe - you would have to beware of pickpockets in both Athens and Istanbul, but if your "safety level" inquiry hints at the risk if violent robberies targeting tourists - none in Istanbul, have not been in Athens since the public unrests, but would still assume it is quite safe for tourists.

enjoy your trip, the islands - especially Santorini - and Istanbul are among the most beautiful spots on earth.

Now in Athens with B-1 on wrist and no problem but you should avoid Omonia sq. Islands are very safe especially these.

i honestly think i might switch to a less noticeable watch. like a gshock!!
im not knocking them. since im a fan of those and collect them also. maybe look at a frogman. "top of the line" 1000 series. but i babble on....

anyway, personally i wouldnt risk my own safety just so i could wear a certain watch.

OR, you decide to wear it, check out your surroundings you could always pocket the watch if you had to as not to be seen or possibly mugged/killed/beaten/ raped!!! lol.

Usual precautions should be taken but no more than that.

The islands (or the countryside for that matter) are very safe. But that does not mean that general precautions against pickpockets must not be taken, like, for example, in crowded night clubs.

The big cities are also safe but they are no different than big cities in GB, the US or Canada. Certain neighborhoods should be avoided because they have been "taken over" by illegal immigrants and police presence is scarce. But I do not think that tourists go to these neighborhoods, nor they have the time to, especially if they're on a cruise with limited time ashore.

Constantinople maybe a more delicate city though. But again, tourists do not hang out in dangerous parts unless maybe if they visit alone.
