Anyone else here make it to the Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend?

I went on Sunday (my 6th time at the event), and it was awesome as usual. No-where else in the world can you get that close to so many amazing cars and the drivers themselves. And also as usual there was far too much to see in one day so next year I may try to go for the whole weekend. This year they even had a static aviation display as well, plus instead of the usual Red Arrows display, they had aerial display by an RAF Typhoon. They messed up a little bit of the timings though as the cars over-ran on time slightly which meant the Formula One cars were taking to the hill just as Typhoon was starting it's display. Bit of a pain as it meant trying to watch both things at once.

It did make me laugh though that when they swapped the PA commentary over to an RAF guy when the Typhoon was on, he made a real point of saying that while the F1 cars pull 3g in some corners, the Typhoon pilot was busily executing 9g turns! It's not often anything overshadows the F1 cars for noise and spectacle, but the Typhoon did so admirably!

Sadly due to my lack of a decent camera I took no pictures that I fancy sharing, but here's a link to the Goodwood site in case any of you are interested enough to considering attending next year. Well worth a visit.

Definitely an event I would like to attend, along with the 24 at Le Mans. This year we'll be at the F1 race in Austin at least.

I went on Thursday, Tag Heuer had a great display of watches, some very nice vintage stuff in there!

I knew nothing of this festival, but it looks incredible. However, I find it odd that it would be held the same weekend as the Silverstone F1 race.

That makes more sense. I should have checked the date on Driver's initial post.

Yes they always stage the Goodwood FOS so that it falls the weekend before the British Grand Prix. That way, it means it's held on a non-racing week in the F1 calendar and it also means all the Grand Prix teams are already in the UK, giving them and the drivers the best possible chance of turning up. (Although some drivers like Michael Schumacher have never been there once! )

It turns out I sort of got to go to the festival after all. There was an hour-long recap show on last night. I'll definitely put this one in my calendar for next year.

Only thing maybe in favor of the F1 pilots is that the Typhoon pilot has an anti-g suit without which his body couldn't take the 9g. :)

That being said, Goodwood is always on my wish list but haven't been able to make it so far.
