I have a friend who is backpacking at the moment and is currently going to be based in Brisbane for 2 or 3 month!

Where they are staying they have no access to internet other than an internet cafe which seems to be quite expensive to use. Does anyone know if there is something they can purchase to plug into their laptop to give them internet access????

Any links would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure I've heard of this but thought someone here may know!

Thanks

Something like this might help.

http://www.broadbandexpert.com.au/mobile-broadband/

But most major phone companies in Australia offer mobile broadband if you have your own laptop.

If your friend has an Iphone 4 or 4s he can use it as a personal hotspot to connect his laptop through.

Thanks for the help guyz really, really appreciate it! She did take her mobile with her(Blackberry) but obviously doesn't want to use it phoning home but the place she's staying doesn't have wifi which I can hardly believe but that is the case. Its really just to hook her laptop up so she can Skype and use her emails!

Thanks again and if there are any other suggestions feel free to chime in as I'm useless with all this techy crap!

:yeahthat

Here in the US we have portable 4g that receives an internet signal through a flash drive type device that would plug in directly to her usb port. She would just have to pay a monthly fee.
