Post subject:  eBay's big ol' fine

Did you guys see that eBay France had to pay £30m to Louis Vuitton today for allowing fakes to be sold on the site?

Now, why oh why haven't Breitling taken a bit more of an interest in all the damn fakes out there on the Bay? They could've made a tidy sum out of it (that they could've used for R&D into that 46mm+ Chronomat we all want! Or maybe a manufacture movement..... ), AND helped rid the world of the fake peddling scum!

I must admit that I thought to myself................Mmmmmmmmmmm here we go.................

.............then I laughed like a drain

If they had taken notice of all the fake Breitlings which I've been reporting then I'd have a little more sympathy but as they've ignored more than they've pulled they deserve all they get. We all try to help to make it better for buyers and genuine sellers (I do both) but unless they take notice it is like banging your head against a wall.

I'm having a bit of a ding dong with some moron in eBay customer services with a script, a whole load of crappy links and no common sense. They sent me a message about controlling fakes ...blah blah blah....and I sent them back a bollocking because they've been allowing repeatedly reported fakes to run 'till some poor sod buys or bids.

I'm going to offer my services as a Breitling auction policeman - can't wait to see the response from the nit with the links!

I sincerely hope that this means that eBay will start taking these things more seriously. We all know that some of the Evos are almost impossible to spot, but they let so many obvious fakes through it's laughable.

But then if Breitling don't care........

As far as In2Deep's artwork is concerned - all I can say is wow! In2Deep, you are going to be a busy man on this forum!!

Post subject:  Fake Breitlings Should Be Seized

I agree- Ebay does let too much of this fly by. And then its up to the buyers and sellers and dispute consoles to resolve the issue. Breitlings are such works of art, and truly Instruments For Professionals. They are amongst the elite. Why should those who shell out the well earned money for a real Breitlings have to worry about fakes being allowed to be sold online, its unfair! It makes Breitling owners of real Breitlings annoyed, rightfully so, because they own the real thing, and others just have imitations.

FYI - Most Evolutions are hard to spot as fakes, yet the Japanese Replicas can be identified by the font on the date. Furthermore, the dial which allows you to see it from every angle, lets you know it is somewhat more genuine..so im told.

:P

I don't feel sorry for ebay at all. There's so much junk on the different sites... I think I suggested in a thread a week back that Breitling (and all the other big brands) should employ a guy who just spots the fakes and then sues the sellers (or ebay). That would generate a nice income...

Louis Vuitton has made the transition to selling products online. The have an online store via their website.

My wife loves it since we don't have a retailer close to our home. My wallet hates it too.

I'm suprised more watch makers haven't made the jump to eliminate the middle man.

Well I have to email them now - don't I?

That's just brilliant In2Deep - not sure if it will fit in my signature block tho' :(

I'm just wondering what to charge them but also whether it would be better to be a kind of bounty hunter instead - no, don't need another badge, my chest's not big enough! :D
