I knew she was having some substance abuse problems, but I didn't realize it had gotten this bad.

Very sad indeed.

My sympathies go out to her family, friends and her fans.

Ain't that so frequent in show biz... What a waste.

Maybe now she found what she was looking for.

Touching in a way that her daughter ended up being hospitalized, guess it shows the love she had for her mom. I worked with a guy, his wife died, a week later he ended up dying - no substance abuse, nothing, just guess that the emotional pain was too much. I really don't know though what actually causes that to happen.

To be fair, the L.A. County Coroner has not released any official details about her cause of death. A lot of people are speculating it was drugs, though, and I would be very surprised if drugs weren't involved in the mix somewhere.

Tragic. Funny now have everyone is suddenly an expert and there were 'signs' everywhere that this was imminent. What a circus. Takes away from a sad event.

A friend of mine said she was shocked when she heard the news. I was surprised, but not shocked. The first thing I thought of when I heard Houston had passed was her interview with Diane Sawyer in 2002, where she denied unhealthful drug use, and even said, "Crack is whack." She lived ten years beyond that, but maybe her denial ultimately cost her. Who knows? I can't say I saw her death as "imminent." To be honest, I never even really thought about it, as I'm not a huge Houston fan. But any time a person has a substance abuse problem, the increased potential for death is always there.

More like what a waste. Everybody knew the situation and did zip and suddenly they are shocked. HS.
