Well this is just about the weirdest thing I've drunk in a while.

http://thegarlicfarm.co.uk/Garlic-Beer- ... DA176.aspx

Just drinking a bottle of it now, and my god, it's odd! You open the bottle and it smells of..... garlic. Nothing else, no hint of beer, just garlic. Then you pour it and half a clove of raw garlic pours out into the glass! I kid you not.

I actually found it hard to put to my lips as the smell of garlic was so strong. However, the taste is way less intense than the smell, but then a wave of garlic hits you on the aftertaste. A lot of drinkers have apparently found it totally disgusting, but I think it's actually OK in a novel kind of way. It's certainly not something to drink pint after pint of, and whether I ever buy it again remains to be seen, but as a novelty it's certainly up there!

Designed for solo drinkers, no doubt.

Yeah, the girlfriend's not round tonight, so you're right! If she was I reckon I'd be on the couch.

The aftertaste of this stuff is outrageously strong. I think this may very well be my first and last bottle of it!

Way too many good beers out there (especially in England) for me to want to try that!

And I though Jones' Turkey & Gravy flavored soda was weird...

The overwhelming question that comes to mind is "WHY??"

(Imho some things are just not worth a "why not?"...)

Well, I enjoy nettle beer (which is absolutely great), plus a few other ale "oddities", so this seemed like a good idea! Sadly not.

It comes from an island just off the south coast of England (the Isle of Wight) where they have a huge garlic farm, and evidently someone (probably quite rightly in fact!) assumed there'd be a market for it from people (like myself) who will try anything beer ralated at least once. The only issue for them is that the stuff is so overpowering on the nose and aftertaste that trying it "at least once" quickly becomes trying it "ONLY once"!

@F14D_Tomcat - I don't know if they sell it over the Channel, but even if they do, I'd find little to recommend it. Definitely NOT the UK's greatest ale advertisement!

No doubt worth a try but really...

They say that eating raw garlic is good for your health when you say have a cold. This might be a better way to do that.

Still, I would like to give it a try. The Mediterranean cuisine uses lots of garlic, so not only it could marry well but I could certainly surprise some.:twisted:
