Read the FOLLOWING sentence and then count the number of times you see the letter "F" contained within it.

sult of years of scientific
study combined with the
experience of many years.

1 uppercase 'F' and 5 lowercase 'f'. Total of 6.

Hmmmm, if I read just the very first sentence as it says (i.e. "Read THIS sentence" not "read the FOLLOWING sentence"), then I see two F's.

However if I read just the second sentence, I see six F's.

(Or eight in total if I include the entire post! :D )

There's only 1 "F" in the sentance "Read this sentence and then count the number of times you see the letter "F"."

OK, I read the sentence as instructed. Now to count the number of times I see the letter "F" -- where do you wish me to count? One or both of those sentences, this paper on my desk, anywhere I see it all day...

haha tough crowd! No trickery involved, just an oversight on my part. It should read "read the FOLLOWING sentence."

Its an old one...apparently way too old.

And now it does, and the original wording has disappeared, since no one quoted it.

Answer is now: one "F", five "f".

 In that case (and forgetting about lower and upper case  ), there's definitely SIX. (One upper case, and five lower case).

I think the thing is, most people seem to overlook the f's in the "of's" for some reason.....

I know there are two "effs" but there is only one " "F" " in the first sentence.... Just grasping at an answer that wasn't said already.
