Just an FYI in case, like me, you wear glasses. Found this interesting place in NYC called Warby Parker. They have a bunch of cool frames and everything is $95 with lenses. Not bad. I visited the store and bought a pair and they were delivered today. Definitely satisfied with them. Plus, of you buy a pair, they donate a pair to someone in need.

Anyway no affiliation, just thought it could be good resource for any members in search of a new pair of glasses.

Warby are a nice company, and offer some interesting frames. They will even offer to send you sample frames to try out.

A.R. Trapp, however, are spectaular! A small shop, with no web presence, they are on Madison in mid-town. They bend over backwards to help you design the exact pair of frames you desire. If you are looking for off the shelf frames, then you should possibly visit your local shop in the mall. Trapp are different in that they help to design the frames from the ground up. Color, material, background pattern, size, shape, etc.
I am affiliated in that I have had seven pairs made over the years. Each frame has my name embossed on the inside temple, and can take up to ten weeks to create by a craftsperson. They are old time shop keepers and are willing to spend the time with you if you are serious about what you'd like to have created. The last time I was in the shop, the CEO of a clothing company (I believe it was J Crew) was picking up a pair of glasses made for his wife. Another time I traded stories about playing stand up double bass with a certain NBC weekend national newscaster.
In essence, I cannot recomend A.R. Trapp enough!

I believe Ar Trapp charges like 400 a pair . They make a ton of frames for celebrities .

Sorry, I DID forget to add that. MacApple is right. However, some materials can raise the price significantly. I also have them cut lenses as well, and have paid upwards of $700 for one pair. This, of course, will freeze some folks out, which is understandable. I need glasses at all times, though, and refuse to have my eyes lased and despise the fuss of contacts, so I treat myself to a new pair in a new color every once in a while.

If I didn't wear contacts 98% of time it would be worth it for me.

Understandable, Czar. If you ever are in Manhattan and want to swing by to meet Issac and his team, let me know. It would be a nice excuse for me to see what's new and then maybe head out for some dinner afterwards (NOT that my wife and I need that excuse....)

Haha. Thanks. I'd be interested to take a look. I'm actually surprised at the pricing. You can easily spend that on regular frames and lenses.

Next Year when I come to Nyc , I will be stopping by Ar Trapp. I have been bitten by the Eyeglasses bug. I have 4 pair now ,and need some more. I seem to always come back to the same rectangle frames ,and want something new. This is my current rotation .

I didnt wear my contacts for years, and then I got lost in Mexico...literally. I couldnt read road signs and I went about 15 miles away from my destination in the middle of nowhere and almost got robbed until a taxi driver saved me. So I got new contacts immediately afterward...hated them for years.. Bought a pair of glasses that cost me about $400 and were so thick on one eye from my astigmatism that I never wore them even once. Got lasik about two weeks later in 2008. My eyes are pretty good now, but if theres ever a problem, ill be heading over to AR trapp. Seems like a small price to pay considering the result.
