Im a uni student and pre-mortgage. Just careful with the money that I earn from being a partner in a small construction firm, which I now do part time due the necessity of reading too many law books haha

sure you can. I would presume a amateur would be moreso a hobbist whereas a professional is for hire.

I'm a beginner hitman. I shoot my gun sideways because I saw a movie character doing it and thought it looked cool. But, my accuracy rate isn't too high. I don't get it, in the movies the sideway shooting bandit hits all of his targets in the heart.

Amateur usually has the connotation as being less experienced, but in reality, I think it is like anything amateur... it has nothing to do with the quality of the product, it has all to do with whether it is your main source of income. For instance, if one were to be a wall street stock broker making $250,000 a year, and did a hit every 6 months for $100,000 each, that would make him an amateur hitman.

Granted the income from the hit would likely be tax-free, so that could theoretically make him a professional hitman too... but you get the idea.

Interestingly (well, not much in fact...) here in France if you're an 'amateur' of something (anything, even topping people) you are generally considered to be an expert - the only difference being that a professional is paid to do it...

Along this same line of thought, I consider myself an 'amateur' in matters IT, but not professional as I don't ever seem to get paid...
