Thanks guys, the day was exceptional: great sunny weather (over 90s), awesome flying machines ... and safe. Here are some pics with the typical Sion background:                                 An unmistakable tail:    There were no fewer than 3 Dakota/DC-3s present and they used the occasion to flirt a little bit:         An appropriately painted Humvee used as a Follow-me:   Part of the Patrouille Breitling crew on the Follow-me.  Patrouille Breitling's pilots visiting the "competition", an exceptionally well preserved Sea Fury, that flew together with another Hawker product, the Hunter:  Although not equipped for that, here is a quick pic of the Patrouille Breitling while performing:  The Man himself. Really impressive to see his preparation and take-off so close. He commented his flight "live". A lifetime experience. And the guy is so simple and humble.      Meet Pamela and Dee from the Breitling Wingwalkers:   The three contenders for the replacement of the Swiss Air Force Tigers were, of course, present:    Breitling's chalet:       This is the first thing you saw upon arrival and the last upon leaving:  Days 2 and 3 were really rainy, so decided not to attend against my better judgment. |

Thanks guys for the kind words. It's good to know that you enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed sharing my passion for aviation with you. I was lucky to have the pass for Day 1 because of the exceptional weather conditions. For flying and for photography. Day 2 was rainy but couldn't resist from returning. The flying schedule was heavily modified but the unique topography of Sion Airport allowed me to watched most of it from the slopes around the airport from my car. As for Day 3, you wouldn't let a cat out. Temperature dropped from the mid-90s on Friday to less than 50s on Sunday. A real pity for the show's organizers. |
