Yeah, I'm a pretty big MMA fan. I watched Royce Gracie in UFC 1 back in the day, and I was hooked on the sport immediately. I don't live too far away from AKA so I see those guys around town every now and then.

Yep, watch em all. I don't have any favorites but several I enjoy watching get beat down.

I started following UFC events on tv about three years ago. My wife actually started watching TUF while I was at work. She raved about how entertaining it was. Even though I´ve trained and competed in Tae Kwon Do and Kickboxing with some succes few years back, I always thought MMA and UFC to be too brutal for my taste. After watching a few TUF episodes I had a complete change of heart. Now I watch UFC regularly.

I´m so amazed of the fighters athletism and skills. The fights are so much more entertaining then boxing for example. I think that to fully enjoy watching an UFC event you have to be some what knowledgeable of the techniques involved and understand how much training and sheer talent it takes to perform them. Unlike boxing which is really easy to follow as there´s essentially six basic punches.

:yeahthat

I watch every UFC currently, and have been into it since my friend and I stumbled across a UFC 1 VHS tape when we were like 12 years old. The days of the Gracie guard and endless hours of kidney heel kicks lol.. Another buddy of mine is a huge boxing fan, but isnt too thrilled about MMA unless its a stand-up bash fest.

There´s a big UFC event today in Australia with couple of really interesting match ups that should intrest your friend too. Atleast one stand up war and two mathces where a stand up specialist goes against very exciting ground specialists. Great oportunity for him to learn what might happen to a puncher if a grabler gets a hold of you.

...Like BJ vs Fitch. Really tough to call? If BJ is in top condition and motivated, that´s easy. It´s bed time for Fitch. But if BJ is not in top form :huh ... Well, I´m guessing Fitch will grind him out. Just like GSP did. Classic grabler vs puncher match up. BJ is a legend (on the ground and on his feet) and both are technically highest rated players.

Bisping is probably going to get knocked out by Rivera. Bisping is a very succesful, skilled, fast and explosive athlete with the crispest techniques in the business. But he keeps making the same mistakes. He keeps circuling towards the opponents power hand and when he gets hit he closes his eyes, drops his hands and loses his composer for couple of seconds. Rivera is a grittier striker and will absolutely try to hunt him down and capatilize on those weeknesses. If Bisping can avoid Riveras right hand, it´s his night, but if that right hand connects... enter sandman. It´s going to be an all out stand up war. Your friend would love this one!
...and pearson vs Fisher too. They´re not going to the ground for sure. Not the most technical fight of the night, but both have alot of heart. They´ll stand and bang this one into the FIGHT OF THE NIGHT.

Sots vs Siver is another grabler vs puncher case. If Sots can get Siver down he´ll choke Siver out. If they stand, Sots can´t match Sivers powerful hands and legs, then it´s lights out Sots.

Pyle is allso always entertaining to watch. A lot of experience, heart and skill.

Get the pop corn out and invite your friend to watch. It´s going to be an exciting night!

Let us hope. It definitely won't beat this though! I REALLY don't like that Brit.

PS... Time goes fast. I remember watching the first shows back around 92 I guess it would be.

I am pulling for Fitch over Penn, we'll see how it goes. I think it's going to be a good fight, but I don't see it as a "classic" grappler vs striker match up. Penn is one of the best BJJ guys in the world and Fitch's wrestling is world class... they're both grapplers.

As for the Bisping fight... Ever since Bisping was a coach on TUF, I've liked him less and less. That being said, I think Rivera isn't on Bisping's level. I see this fight being a one sided win for Bisping.

Sotiropoulos is going to sub Siver in the first round. Sure, Siver is stronger and has that spinning back kick, but it's not gonna make a difference. Sotiropoulos is way too good on the ground.

In my opinion this is one of the least interesting Pay Per View's UFC has put out in a while, but it's great for Australia. The more MMA and the UFC expand, the better it is for the sport.

BJ/Fitch was positively ho-hum. Whatever. Im usually pretty excited to see a rematch. This one, not so much. And im a big BJP fan.

And Bisping should have an asterisk next to that win...

Siver fight was awesome though.

Siver's take down defense was amazing. He shocked me.

I thought BJ showed a lot of class at the end of the fight in the interview with Rogan. Like you, I don't think a rematch between BJ and Fitch is that exciting, but I'm glad BJ wants to keep fighting.

Bisping is still a punk. I hope his next match is against someone who tears him apart. And Dana White should make sure his next fight is in the US. It seems like his last 5 fights have been at the O2 Arena in London and this fight was in Australia. I'm hoping his next fight is against Marquardt or Sonnen. I think both of those guys would teach Bisping a lesson.

And I loved seeing Mark Hunt get his first UFC win. The line of the night was from the Ref in that fight. After Hunt cut open the other fighter's eye, the fighter looked at the Ref and said "There's something hanging over my eye." The Ref responded "Yeah, it's your eyelid."

Well, I was staying out of this thread so as not to ignite the usual boxing v MMA slanging match, but the mention of Mark Hunt compels me to post because I am a fan of his. Great to see him get the win.

Unfortunately the ignorant tabloid press here thought it was appropriate to describe a former K1 world champ as an unknown heavyweight from western Sydney who would probably be in line for unemployment benefits the next day.

glad to see so many mma fans on here. at first i thought that it might be a bit of stretch but glad i was wrong. i have been a mma fan for quite a whilie but to be honest it took me years to fully appreciate the grappling and submission game. it wasnt until i strapped on the gloves with a friend and he had managed to choke me out a few years back that it really sunk into my head that there is more to fighting than standing up.

the sport is great and i am glad to see the atheletes start to get the credit that they deserve. while on this topic of mma anyone here play UFC undisputed or EA mma??
