Rather than discuss why Breitling isn't a luxury brand or argue about some other crappola I've decided to bring back my 'Favorite Threads' this time lets talk about our favorite movie scenes of all time. Here are mine:

#1 - Bronx Tale - bunch of bikers come barreling down the street and into a local bar, they proceed to get rowdy and spray the bartender with their beers, Sonny locks the doors and says "now you's can leave" and all the bikers get their @$$e$ kicked!

#2 - Godfather - Final scene....all 5 Dons of the NY Families are gunned down and Michael takes power.

#3 - Dark Knight - Joker makes the pencil disappear.

#4 - Godfather - The Horse Head - Jack Woltz wakes up to find his prized stallion's butchered head in his bed.

#5 - Shawshank Redemption - The Escape- Andy tunnels a whole in the wall of his prison cell, climbs down and into a sewage drain, then out to freedom.

Off the top of my head -

Saving Private Ryan - opening scene, Omaha Beach.

Apocalypse Now - Helicopter attack at dawn.

Lord of the Rings, Return of the King - battle for Gondor

Rocky (all of them) - all training montages.

Just One of the Guys - when she proves she's not a guy

Porky's - getting caught peeping in on the girls shower (I still cringe)

Open Range - gunfight at the end.

I have two I'm particularly fond of right now is from Inglorious Basterds:

1) The opening scene in the French countryside. The tension is palpable, tremendous use of language and brilliant acting.

2) The scene in the basement bar. Again the use of language and acting are some of the best I've seen in years. The entire scene is filled with angst and this subdued hatred. So fantastic.

I'm going to go home and watch Inglorious Basterds tonight!

There are HUNDREDS of others but these two really stick out as of right now.

1) The steadicam shot into the copa in Goodfellas...

2) Kissing of Al Pacino's hand in his father's office at the end of the Godfather as the door closes as Diane Keaton looks on...

3) Al Pacino kissing his brother Fredo in the hotel in Cuba on New Year's Eve as he tells him "I know it was you... you broke my heart Fredo" The Godfather II

The Deer Hunter- In the river POW 'compound', playing Russian Roulette and the twin to it later in the film, the Russian Roulette scene in the warehouse. Cimino was apparently playing games with DeNiro, not giving him any direction and kept the cameras running. The Asian actor was not originally supposed to slap DeNiro and Walken was not supposed to spit in DeNiro's face. Cimino had both actors do this in the hopes that he'd get some genuine emotion from an actor who was already garnering a reputation for not emoting (going the opposite direction he went in Taxi Driver). The result was true to life and brilliant.
In the same film, John Savage can be heard screaming about the rats in the cage (in the river), screaming to Michael (DeNiros character). However, he was actually afraid for his safety and was screaming at the director, Cimino, whose first name is Michael. This was kept in the film and is another example of a director toying with his actors safety. The result on screen was genuinely frightening, though.

Blade Runner- Edward James Olmos (Gaff), after Harrison Ford (Deckard) barely escapes with his life due to Rutger Hauer (Batty) essentially running out of life as he had beaten Deckard nearly to death:
"It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?" (referring to Sean Young/Rachael, who by all rights should be retired/killed by Deckard and/or Gaff, as she is also a replicant.)

Behind the Green Door - Nightclub Scene (if you know this one, shame on you...)

In no order.

1 - Boondock Saints - Bar fight thru the next morning's fight. Great use of camera to make it just look gritty, great song.

2 - Confidence - end of movie explaining the con. Again, a great song involved.

3 - We Were Soldiers - end of movie push up the hill to overtake the bad guys. Slow-mo chain gun, Mel Gibson pre break down, good song.

4 - Fiddler on the Roof - "Rich Man" song in the barn. Great dance moves, I always laugh.

5 - Anchor Man - Sex Panther scene. "Smells like Bigfoot's d!ck"
