Does anyone here play (or have played) Airsoft before? I've done a bit of paintball in the past, but fancied giving Airsoft a bit of go as there are a few Airsoft sites within a pretty short distance of where I live. Apparently it's less expensive than paintball, plus the guns are way more realistic than the paintball guns. Anyone with any experience of it? Any good? |

NO. . . Dont do it. . . I give it a go a while back and was not impressed. The balls or pellets seemed to fly or traject in a random manor. I only rented the guns and found the gas does not last long they had a accuracy that was to say the least, random. . . To me they are a very dangerous toy. That being said this comes from shooting man that at one stage had 5 firearms. Dont worry I have only 3 now. . ![]() ![]() |

Never done the Airsoft, but done the Paintball a number of times and that was a hoot. Loved shooting my kids.....hahaha, they thought the "Old" man was gonna be an easy mark...I think I gained a new level of respect from them after that. |

Thanks for the replies guys. @breanach78 - yes I've heard accuracy can be an issue with airsoft due to the low mass of the projectiles (and the low speed of course). It's difficult to get any impartial opinions on airsoft to be honest, as those in know are (obviously) those who play, and people tend to be quite protective of their own preferences. i.e. Paintball guys say airsoft is less accurate, less fun, etc, while the airsoft guys say vice versa. I guess I'll just have to give it a try to see for myself. Now all I need to do is see if I can convince a few of my mates to run around in a forest dressed in camo gear for an afternoon! I agree that a CO2 rifle for a bit of target shooting is definitely the way to go (here in the UK at least), but that kind of cancels out the skirmishing possibilities for obvious reasons! ![]() |

never tried the airsoft thing but it does look cool. i was really into paintball a while back. mostly speedball on the field with inflatable bunkers. i did get a chance to shoot the airsoft pistol once and thought it was cool but the thought of dorwning someone with a rope of paint just was more appealing ![]() |
