I bought my Coolpix 5700 in Japan back in Dec 03. No problems up until a month ago where the captured images looked very dim, and washed out.

Thought it was some setting that I did ie. flash power etc. I then scoured the net dpreview.com and found that there is an actual recall on the CP5700 sensor.

Thinking that I bought it in Japan and that I would get the short end of the stick, the Nikon rep in Mississauga told me that its a global recall, don't matter where you bought it. I say cool!

Two weeks later, I got a Purolator Courier notice and its my CP5700. They did a fine job of cleaning, calibrating and replacing the sensor. Its like new again!

This is the kind of customer service that we should be getting for any items that we purchase!

Nice deal! That's the kind of service you get from good car companies too. As much as I love the big B, their service could probably be improved.
