Just wondering does any one here have a E60 M5? It would be my dream lotto car over any other super car. I'd say Ferrari beater!! large enough for daily life, 4 doors, big boot and refined when you want it to be...V10 and my god what it can do!! I drove one for a while this week and one word pops into my head...Brutal!! in a good way of course My god its Sooooooo GOOD.......
If you do have one your very very lucky....Well anyway back to the real world...

I had an E39 M5 a few years back. A beast in its own right, but a completely different car than the E60 in power output, handling and comfort. A good friend of mine just sold his E60 and purchased a 2011 Audi R8 V10. Both mwheatley (from the forum here) and I were able to bask in its glory yesterday!

I took it for a quick spin and THAT is an automobile worth discussing!

for sure.. the S8 is equally as impressive as the R8. When do you see a 520 hp Lamborghini V10 in a 4 door saloon?!?

I don't have the M5 but I have an E60 550i M-Sport. It's a nice car and at 0-60 in 5.5 secs it's pretty quick, but if I had the cash I'd have the M5 in a heartbeat! It's an awesome piece of kit and at 4.7 secs 0-60 it's almost a whole second quicker than mine.

That said, I don't drive enough motorway miles these days to really get the most out of the 550 anyway, and the fuel economy is punishing to say the least when you do open it up. I must be honest I'm not loving it as much as I did my old M3, or even my 330 convertible for some reason. I may even consider changing it for a 335d Coupé instead!

Hey all, the M5 is very nice but bit to big for my liking, i think my E46 M3 was fantastic really loved every mile this time i went and drove the new M3 and wasnt all that impressed, it was nice but not as nice as the price so idecided to go economical and buy a gilrs car with a boys engine and got a 135i which i have to say i really love, its like a go kart with a rocket on it, faster than my old M3 and has the same torque as the new M3 on a slightly shorter and marginally narrower track.

gotta say if this is what girls cars are like im happy to have one!!

After driving the new 335, I would admit, it does feel a bit quicker on straights than my E46 M3 did, but lets be honest with ourselves... On the track or even on a curving country rode, the M3 will out handle and out maneuver the 335 any day.

The 335 had a bit of body roll and heaviness to it when I test drove it and wasn't as impressed.

Ya I think huge respect has to be given to all the M's as I state above my dream one is the E60 M5..
Much respect must be given to the CTS-V that Thomasenlow1 mentioned..
My thoughts were that the 550BHP CTS-V was great but we in Europe have roads with bends and bumps
My world was devastated when I found out its one of only a few 4 door saloons that can lap the nurburgring sub-8.00 :whiner: BMW M5 does 8.13 :boohoo:

Still I am going for the M5. Lets compare both cars after 100,000 miles day to day Driving!!

M3 CLS does 7.50  (Please do not check the Corvette ZR1 )

Lets see how the new M5 Goes!

Nothing wrong with that "girls" car. It reminds me of what the 3 series used to be, before they got so big. I looked at a new 330, but the M-B C300 won out, much nicer of a car in my opinion, perfect for my wife anyway. Now an M5, that's a different story

To tell you the truth guys, I never quite digested the E60/E61, that is why I was sticking to my E39 540iA Touring.

But now that the F10 is coming out of the woods...

The F10 M5, to be shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March, with its award winning 4.4-liter V8 twin-scroll engine peaks at 578-horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque. 0-62 mph should take less than 4.2 seconds, even though it is expected to have lower track times. Top speed will be over 190mph with the limiter off, 155mph (as usual) with the limiter on.

For those of you interested, you may visit http://www.gtspirit.com/2009/12/14/2011 ... enderings/ for photos and videos, one of which at the Nordschleife or http://www.bmwblog.com/2010/08/20/the-n ... rburgring/

I never was a diesel fan anyway. And once you get used to a BMW petrol V8  you keep wanting more.

@ D8 The F10 550i is doing 5.0 secs 0-62 and with a much better fuel economy. But if you're thinking 335d, you may want to consider this: http://www.bmwblog.com/2010/08/16/motor ... long-time/

@ Breanach78 OK for the test, you take the CTS, I'll take the M5  :)

@ Breanach78 You surely mean M3 CSL because CLS is from another make that is trying to catch up the Bavarian guys. Also, for info, the M3 GTS is doing 7:48. OK, the Corvette ZR1 may be doing 7:22 but it is not a saloon and its engine is "a little bit" bigger at 6.2 ltr. Over 55% bigger in fact.

@jadanf It's logical the M3 will outhandle the 335i, they're not supposed to be in the same league neither have the same handling. And if you take the Dynamic Drive option on a 335i, you'll have no body roll

I think you might have me mistaken a bit!! I take the M5 all the way  over ANY car. The old M5 was top of the pile for me until the E60 M5 came along and I am sure the new one will take over from that!!

And also apologies  I do, of course, mean the M3 CSL!!
