Or at least, I hate the ones that pull straight out in front of you when you are doing 90km/h.

It's really not been a good day. My wife was taken to hospital by ambulance but fortunately all the x-rays were clear and she's been released with just some bumps and bruises - I'm fine.

The people in the van I used to stop are also OK although the driver has been charged, and my car is totalled. Could have been a lot worse, but right now it still feels pretty bad!

So glad to hear it wasn't worse. It sucks, but many days I deal with similar situations where it goes very very wrong. Positive wishes to you and you wife.

Thanks guys.

I know that we were lucky - its just a car (and I was getting fed up with it anyway). Unfortunately the plan was to buy myself a 911 as a summer car this fall and that's going to have to go on the back burner now, but it was a huge impact and for us both to be able to get out of it pretty much unscathed is a testament to the safety of modern cars.

Hope that no watches were damaged in the making of this wreck.

Ian.

Sorry

As Sharkman says, it could have been so much worse, live life to the full every day, you never know whats around the corner.

Glad to hear that you and the Mrs. are ok. It is crazy just how quick things can change during a day...and totally outside of your control.

Hope all is well, sounds like a scary day. What kind of car were you driving?

I was in a Jeep - lots of metal up front and it all deformed in the right way. Cabin was completely intact and doors still opened and closed. The pedals didn't move in at all and with the exception of the airbags and the windshield which took a hit from something on the passenger side (hood maybe, wing mirror from the van??) the inside looked fine. The engine bay was a complete mess and the front fenders were very interesting shapes. I would be amazed if the frame wasn't damaged as well.

The minivan (Dodge Caravan) took it in the passenger door which didn't open afterwards but still held together pretty well. The van went into a signpost as well which did for the front end.

Wow that's a nasty nasty accident, quite luck to walk away unharmed. Hope your wife is recovering. She may need that 243 a little sooner as a get well present.

Jeez Roff! Really glad to hear that you and Mrs Roff are OK. I think we sometimes have to remind ourselves that a car can be a lethal weapon that they let practically anyone own irrespective of IQ or intelligence. A moments lapse and you can change someones world forever.

Very fortunate escape Roff, but as you say, it's a testament to the strength and design of current vehicles. And on the bright side at least you won't have to haggle for a trade-in price on the Jeep with some shiny suited car salesman!

Hope Mrs Roff's aches and pains go soon.

The most important is that you and your wife are OK, the metal is replaceable.
