Post subject:  Paypal Dispute

In April, I sold a Navi World to a member on here. The watch was paid for with paypal and shipped without a problem. I open my inbox today to find a dispute has been opened with paypal and the buyer said his credit card wasn't used. I checked with UPS and got the tracking number and it shows the iten was delivered, and even signed for by the guy disputing the claim. I've never had an experience like this with paypal, but maybe some others have and could help explain the whole process. I've uploaded the pages I printed out with the shipping and delivery confirmation to paypal and now it's sitting in their resolution center. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, the guy who used the card could have signed any name he wanted when UPS delivered the package. Many sellers won't take Paypal for this reason. I usually check out the buyer a bit first if I can before accepting paypal for this reason.

If the buyer opened a dispute with his credit card, you're most likely screwed.

I just got off the phone with paypal and they've released the funds to me. They said I'm covered under sellers protection so if the credit card wants the money, paypal is responsible for it. The buyer did dispute the charge with their credit card and the woman on the phone from paypal told me the usual reasons for these, such as the spouse forgot what the charge is and so on. I'm just gald it's over, it was a very stressful few hours.

Great news. Sounds like they are stepping up more about this. There are lots of horror stories about them out there.

I remember reading some of the horror stories as well and was extremely worried with being out $3800. I came very close to listing my 112 for sale, still may, but at least this time it could go to something else.

The buyer may have been trying to pull a scam mind?

yeah i'm always worried about this when paypal. it seems to offer the buyer more protection than the seller, but it looks like in your case it worked out. its not like paypal/ebay can't afford to eat these one off disputes ;)

Did you leave a feedback post in the feedback forum here? Id like to know who to avoid in future deals.

Here's the feedback I left:

Also, although I was covered under paypal's seller protection since I sold to a verified buyer, the case is still unresolved. I don't have to pay back the money I received, but the guy's credit card is still refusing to pay paypal. Paypal has told me that they'll cover it if the credit card will not pay. It's nice to know I'm covered, but it's been a huge headache dealnig with.

You would think the Navi on his wrist would remind him of the $3800 he spent on it!
