How do you go about trading your watch, say from someone from another state or country? What is the usual agreement and process between the parties?
Care to share your experiences?

I have only done actual trades with long standing members on TZ/risti and all were in the US. I'd consider trading with a VERY well established member overseas, but I haven't had to yet.

I usually require same shipment method, always overnighted, and with tracking/insurance. Now, I have good friends in many parts of the country I have made in this hobby. I have sent my watch on more than one occasion to a friend in Socal, who then did a face to face trade for me.

Shipping method for me is depending on value.. always check references. Its like sending someone money for a watch. Just do your due dilligence. I would say 90% of the time, shipping is at the same time. I've had some people try and convince me I should ship first, but I have plenty of references so I don't usually oblige. If I did not have refs, and the other party had plenty of great references, then me shipping first would make sense.

I trade to the USA on occasion, but the kicker for us Canadians there is that even though we are sending something of equal value out of the country, we still pay taxes on the one coming in.

I've been burned once.. kind of. Some guy in the UK told me he was sending me an Omega Seamaster Ti.. I never got it.. he finally sent me back my Fortis Chrono and told me I screwed him out of a bunch of money.. considering he had no valid tracking number to give me, or any sort of proof of postage, I was a bit suspicious. He seemed genuine about having shipped it though, and I told him to keep the extra strap and tool that I put in the package.. which he was more than happy to keep. I wasted alot of time and money that time.

There are a few dodgy and shady characters out there, I must admit. It is a shame though, WIS should be enjoying what they like and not out there ripping each other off.

I guess we need to do a bit homework and be steadfast.
