G'Day Crew,

I purchased a Breitling Black Calf strap from a fellow member via paypal.

Unfortunately it must have got lost in the postal system here or abroad. The item was not insured nor fully trackable because of it being under 2kg.

If I claim through paypal, possibly get my money back, but that leaves the seller without the strap and money!

I could just put it down to life's experience I suppose.

Has anyone claimed not received/lost goods before via paypal?

Regards,

Rob

I think in this case that in fact the responsibility lies with the seller as its not yours until you receive it and it is his responsibility to insure it unless you asked him not to,However in the real world you bear half the cost each :lingsrock:

As the buyer you are about 99% sure to get your money back. PayPal doesn't protect the seller against anything, he can only win if he can prove the item was delivered, and hell freezes over.

Great News!

It arrived. I spoke with the postal service here, they called the local post office, said the item could not be located or tracked as it was under 2kg..................

Then this morning it was delivered by the postal worker, coincidence I think not. My guess is that it was sitting at the local post office, they had forgotten to notify me of the item and then "found" it when called by head office! I had already asked them before.

At no stage did I ever feel that anything was untoward from the seller, too honest and a very nice person to deal with. As I said I had already decided to let it go. I was more hoping that paypal would "insure" the transaction, where the seller keeps the $$ and the buyer also gets a refund.

I did not want the seller to be out of pocket for the item and $$, our "friendship" meant more to me than that!

All in all a happy ending

Regards,

Rob.

P.S. Thank you for the replies!
