I had a PS1, PS2 and an original XBox, and while the XBox was technically miles ahead of the old PS's, I STILL preferred the Sony kit. I know mates with both the 360 and the PS3, and the PS3 is a nicer piece of kit IMO. Plus you also have the added bonus of the PS3 being a pretty darn good Blu-Ray player as well as a great console. |

i have both...hardly play them but PS3 is more useful with the BR player. if i had to choose one system it'd be PS3. if i have a couple youngsters and more family-oriented i'd go WII. |

I have mentioned before that I'm a part of a huge mature online gaming community that is 99% based around the PS3. The 360/PS3 debate has been done to death and at the end of the day, I don't think there is a 'clear' winner, it depends on what you want. PS3 Pros: Looks nice (shiny shiny), you get a Blu Ray player out of the box, big HDD (I have a 60GB model - very easy to change too), PSN (PlayStation Network, the online side) is free Cons: PSN is free so you don't get the same seamless experience that you do with the 360, some will say that there have been reliability issues 360 Pros: Xbox Live is the better online service, and at £40 or so a year isn't prohibitively expensive Cons: They can be very loud and the early models were very prone to the RROD (Red Ring Of Death) but I think they may have made some advances in reliability now (I have a launch day 360 that is still going) Those lists certainly aren't exhaustive and are just my opinions based on my involvement in online gaming and consoles over the last almost 7 years. Some people also make a point about either of the controllers being 'better' than the other one. I've used both and to me, they're just controllers. You press buttons and move things and things happen. In my experience, if you want to be a super-l33t gamer that plays 23.5 hours a day and wants to be the best after 5 minutes of a game being released, the 360 community might be better for you. I play PS3 exclusively now and find the people on there to be generally more relaxed and (luckily for me) they don't care if you're crap. If you want Mario, get a Wii. If you do decide to go with the PS3 and are interested in gaming online with other silly old farts, drop me a PM ![]() |

Either way (xbox or PS3) with good HDTV you'd be happy. I myself have PS3, bought because of bluray. I've been told that xbox live is better than PSN and there is more in it but as far as i know basic gaming on net is same, a group of friends spending time with good game. In many times you get games before PS3 with xbox but same time many of the games in xbox are hacked somehow like in MW2 (=aimbot, jumping like kangaroos etc). Yes, they hack PS3 games too (also MW2), but not as much. Basically look all the games your like, prefer and choose the consol after that. Not all games are available in every consol, there are differences. For examples, if you like Halo-games, it's xbox, if you like heavy rain it's PS3 and if you are sport-oriented it's Wii. |

Mik@ wrote: Basically look all the games your like, prefer and choose the consol after that. Exactly. I used to be a PC gamer, but I picked up original Xbox because it had the games I like. That carried over to 360. If you like 3D shooters and Western RPGs, get a 360. If you liked Playstation 1 games, get a Playstation. If you like the Nintendo franchises, get a Wii. |

I give the edge to PS3 based on the built in blu Ray...but it really comes down to what games you like best. |

If you need a Blu-Ray player, get the PS3 If you have a Blu-Ray player, get the 360 If you have a 5 year old, get a Wii. Seriously though, what was said about what games you like more is the best advice, it sucks getting a new console only to realize that the one game you really want is not available on that console, unless you're like me and only play stuff made by EA sports then it doesn't matter. |

Im not gonna go all crazy with this BUT....I have owned every xbox system and PS system since there releases in the 90's My HONEST opinion.... PS3 gaming wise is lacking in a big way to the xbox 360.. PS3 Video playback is unbeatable.. So it really depends on what your looking for.... I am like Roman I play pretty much all EA sports games and I only play online...So for me I think the 360 is much better as PS3 to me is very choppy ( and I have an amazing connection) BUT if your looking for one of the best Blu Ray players alongside a gaming console then ya go PS3 + a HUGE pro for the PS3 is that it plays burnt discs ![]() just my 2 cents. -E |

Since this topic got bumped, I'll add that at E3, an upgraded Xbox was unveiled. It's the same price as the previous 360 version, but it has built-in wifi (which it should have had to begin with) and a 250 GB disk. |

I guess ill echo what a lot of people have said. First, let me say that I recommend a 360. Games: 360 +1 pt. Blu Ray: PS3 +1 pt. Online: 360 +100 pts. I would have never believed it myself, but Xbox Live is where ALL the action is at. With prices at $199 or whatever theyre at now, you can get a 360 and an inexpensive blu-ray player on the side. PS3 online is free, but XBL is well worth the $50 per year. |

They're going to be the same, now that PS3 is going to have its version of Xbox Live Gold. |
