I have a forum and want to set Sub Forums (same as on here IE - Breitling Discussion - General Discussion - Andrew Michaels Owners Club and such)

Is there an easy way to do this? Sorry for asking but I have no clue

Just discovered I can set up a forum on my own web site! :D

You didn't mention what software you're using but if you're using phpbb2, it's a 10 second job to add a sub-forum.

Log in as admin and select Management under Forum Admin.

"Breitling Discussion", "General Discussion" etc are classed as categories and what you called sub-forums are actually the individual forums (because the aforementioned can't be posted to, they're just titles). Just type in a name and click "Create new forum".

Simples! :D

OK, PHP3 is a bit different. My web site installs v3.0.7 but I assume will be much the same as yours. There are no categories but unlimited (?) levels of sub-forums.

To create new top level forums, login and select the second tab "Forums". Rename the default to your forum name by clicking on the green cog then type in your first top level forum in the box at the lower right. Create sub-forums for this in the same way. Takes two ticks to suss it out.

To get the sub-forums to appear in a list, you need to enable "List subforum in parent-forum’s legend:" in the options screen every time.

PHP3 uses a different default style but you can revert to a more v2 look if you wish.

http://f4buz.com/testforum3/viewforum.php?f=3 if you want to play. Same login/pw as the other one.

Hope this helps. Don't know anything about changing scripts or template. A PHP3 board would be best for that.

Post the URL of your board once it's up and running!
