I know I am dating myself here. When I went to see Alice in Wonderland last weekend with the wife (and one guess as to whose idea that was
) a preview starts and I hear the voice of Bruce Boxleitner. He as a pretty distinctive voice. And I think, "Wow...he is actually in another movie? The only movie he ever did was Tron." Then his character starts talking about a text message from an arcade. Then eventually we see this rundown arcade with 80s video games in it, and I think, "could this be another Tron movie?" Then, as if in direct answer to my question, the Tron video game at the far end of the arcade is uncovered and I know there is a movie coming out that I must see.The rest of the preview just totally blows me away. I think I am literally salivating by the end of it.
Is there anyone else out there who even remotely shares my enthusiasm?? Just a little?

What is scary for me to think is that 3 of the main actors in the movie were not even born when the original came out. I remember watching the original!!! Man, I am getting old......
The funny thing is, Tron is not really one of those movies you go back and watch again and again. It was unbelievably cutting-edge when it came out, but unlike Star Wars and Blade Runner, it became dated rather quickly and now is almost laughable to watch. But I still remember how fantastic it seemed when I saw it the first time as a kid. It's just hard to really communicate that excitement to somebody who watches it today for the first time. So I think the only people who will be as excited as me for Tron: Legacy are the ones who, like me, saw the original back in the early 1980s.
Apparently Tron: Legacy is one of the latest "most expensive movies ever made"s (although I have a hard time believing it cost more than Avatar).
I rarely go see movies when they just come out, but I may have to make an exception for this one.
