Should be a good match up for the gold. I know there are a fair share of Canadians and Americans on this board, how many are into hockey. I am not much into hockey unless I am watch the Caps or international play. What are your thoughts on the matchup?

It's going to be Luongo vs. Miller. And Miller has been the best goalie of the tournament hands down.

Canada has the size and physical advantage but USA has the speed and youth.

I predict very tight game... I'm from Europe but I'm rooting for the US team. Those kids haven't won anything in their careers yet.

In the USA and rooting for the USA! Going to be a great match! Im a huge hockey fan! I have 3rd row Red Wings tickets next week

Not a huge fan of Hockey. Since the NHL lockout I became seriously soured on the sport. In the setting of the Olympics, it's far more enjoyable. Something very special about international competition.

I'm looking forward to the game, and maybe a little gloating if team USA can pull out the win!

Here in Europe people can't name even one baseball or football player by name. But hockey and basketball are big international sports. I think Americans should definitely respect the sport more. The US team achievement in this tournament is 100 times bigger thing than winning the World Series or Superbowl (which no one outside the US care little about).

And this comes from a European guy who loves baseball and football (American). Great sports but hockey rules.

Ho Hum. Now I remember why I hate hockey. Congrats to team Canada.

The ironic thing is, if he hadn't scored that goal the Canadian press would have been all over him for not doing anything in the tournament - likely even if Canada had won.

As it is, he's this generation's Paul Henderson and he's solidified himself alongside Gretzky and Lemieux. Stanley Cup winning captain and scorer of the gold medal winning goal in the space of 9 months and he's still only 22.

It's truely an amazing feat.

I think if anyone "owned the podium" it was the US. Just because it happened to be silver and bronze doesn't mean they're on the podium!

US did very well - 37 medals is very impressive.

Canada was targetting 27 medals, and ended up with 26 so about right, although I think that there was a generally pleasant surprise about the number of golds. There was also a lot of disappointment - the alpine skiers and men's long track speed skaters in particular.

To go from being the only country to have hosted an Olympics and not won a gold (and doing it twice in 1976 and 1988) to winning more golds than any other nation in the history of the winter Olympics clearly shows that 'own the podium' worked, I just wonder how well it will be sustained now that the Olympics are over. There isn't the same incentive for investment in amateur sport now.

Truth. I'm in full agreement. I just enjoy stirring the nationalist pot a bit Roff!
