Looking for suggestions for moderatly priced Canon camera to take good close up shots to post pics. I bought a ridiculously overpriced and oversized Canon a year ago and it has seemingly little to no close up resolution. Could ya hep a brotha out?

What's your budget? You'll never beat an SLR with a proper macro lens, which could probably be had for less than $1000 total.

No more like $200 if possible. Am I whistling in the wind?

Just bought the canon sx200is. A bit more than $200 but I'm very happy with it.

Taken with the new camera without fixing the pics (and I'm no expert at taking pics):

PowerShot SX120 IS?? 200 bucks on Amazon. Nice thing is it takes AA batteries, esp if your traveling, you dont have to carry the charger along

May I ask which Canon you bought last year?

I do not know how familiar you are with digital cameras.... however, I thought I would ask this question before you venture off into buying a new one.

If you are taking a close up image of something (i.e. under a foot or two away) you need to use the MACRO button(shaped like a flower).

Do you know about that already because with out it your image will always be blurry!?

If you do know about it... any 6-8MP camera will be ABSOLUTELY FINE with the use of the MACRO Button for close up watch or object shots! Mega Pixel is not always going to give you a better image, contrary would most people (who don't know what they are talking about) would tell you! Lenses and sensitivity of the camera plays a majority of the factor as well. If you are putting small pictures on the internet or websites a 6-8MP will be fine! If you are Blowing a image up and/or printing a 20" x 20" well thats a different story! In that case look for a 10+MP Camera!

Hope this helps!

Hi,

If you are after a small pocket camera, try the Canon Digital IXUS 70, takes great pics and has a good macro, it took the pics in my post as titled below.

Well I ain't got the Navitimer blues!

Thank you for the info and anticipating my ignorance. Just to drive the point home my Canon is the SX-110 IS so I guess I have plenty o' macro if I just used it.
