Just wondered what you all thought about saled descriptions that gave a false description? I am anal about giving an honest desription whenever I sell something and to be honest I expect the same back. If anything I will be over cautious and be over critical when selling. At least then when the buyer gets the watch he or she is then really happy with the purchase and I feel good about the fact they are happy.

I recently bought a watch and after a really thorough examination it was cleary not as descibed, when I started digging it emerged that the seller had not been honest about a few things in the listing going as far as lying about the age and condition. He had bought it from the AD and descibed it as a few months old watch when in reality it was from 2004 but had been worn by the AD and the papers filled in once he purchased it. The watch does show signs of a watch that has been worn for the last 5 years. I even imagine that being an official AD it would have had numerous Polishes as well?

Anyway my question is this -

If a seller knowingly misdescribes a watch does this make him as bad as a con artist?

An inaccurate description is a con. It may be harder to pull off with pictures than a fake watch, but the person is trying to get more value for the watch by providing a false presentation of what it is. I'm no lawyer, but that sounds like obtaining money by deception.

yup i agree with the above its not hard on the modern b's to pop the south side strap or bracelet off and have a look at the MFG date same goes for bracelets date.

Date of purchase
Date of MFG
Date of last service

a 2004 watch even if only a few months old ie to the buyer still has been sat with the same oils etc (autos) for 5/6 years as such id want a hefty discount to cover the service id likely send it on

have only bought one of mine shand the fighters, supposedly had had a service 4 months before i bought it even got the receipt on purchase didnt stop it gain 30 secs a day. got hacked off didnt wear it much for 6 months sent it to BUK got it sorted, looks better than new and still love it.

roff knows the full story but thats the highlights

lesson i learnt was buyer beware that was a dutch non ad dealer
