Anyone else indulge?

This game broke the entertainment industry record for most copies sold. 4.7 million copies in its first day. It made $310 million in a single day :wowzers They anticipate selling 12 million by the end of the year. If you don't have one already and buy just one video game, this would be it.

Very controversial as well... heck they even banned it in Russia!

Hit me up, xbox gamertag is POWEREDbyMARIO

I have this on PS3. I do have a 360 too but that's a launch-day model (still works fine) and I want to keep it working, so I mainly game on PS3.

Played through the SP, and as seems to be the case with more than a few games these days, it was short and disappointing. Not had the chance to get online yet due to moving house and getting the Mrs to come and live with me! I had a day off yesterday and thought I'd get a few hours in, but she was off too :?

Incidentally, and I hope that nobody minds me giving this site a little plug, but I've been a member of OAP (Old Age Playstationers) for over 6 years now, and if any BS members are looking for people to game with, come on over to http://www.oaps.org and introduce yourselves. OAP isn't a clan per se and doesn't really follow the 'usual' clan rules. We are a community of like-minded, supposedly mature gamers. The community was set up in 2003 at the start of the old Sony beta trials and Socom, primarily to get away from screaming kiddies calling us oldies 'ghey n00bz' and the like. We do advertise that we have a lower age limit of 27, but to be honest, it's more about attitude and outlook on life. It'll suit UK and EU members more due to time zones and all that. OAP is a fantastic community, very laid back. This place reminds me a lot of my beloved OAP, and I can't be more complimentary than that :)

Why is it controversial? I've heard some people complaining that they fight on U.S. soil which is a joke. They come out with 20 movies every year where they blow up the White House, and that's ok, so why the angst over a video game?

Anyway, the COD franchise has been an incredible franchise and they hit this one out of the park which may be its precipice...kind of like Halo3. They're going to have to do something absolutely AMAZING for the next one to get this kind of press and excitement.

And as long as we're plugging sites, I love http://www.gametrailers.com - video reviews in HD and lots of exclusives.

CODMW2 should tie me over until Bioshock2 comes out :)

The controversy actually stems from one of the missions (which they made completely optional in all versions, and was removed entirely from the Russian version) in which you participate in a terrorist attack on a Russian airport as an undercover CIA agent. It's actually quite a powerful 'scene' if you will, even if you choose not to fire a shot yourself. But yeah - definitely controversial.
