Some of you guys have unusual handles such as flynbyu and defiancekofb so it would be fun to have a thread where people explain what their non self explanatory nicks mean. Altair is Arabic for "the flyer" or "the one who is able to fly" as Aviation has always piqued my interest and one of the top things I want to do before I die is fly a plane. |

Mine's rather boring on the face of it, but (slightly) more interesting with explanation - so here goes. The short answer is that it is the name of my company - Roffensian Consulting (shameless plug coming up) www.roffensian.com. The more interesting question may be why Roffensian Consulting which needs a little more explanation. Roffensian is Latin for 'person from the city of Roffa' Roffa being the name that the Romans gave to what is now Rochester in Kent (England). I attended school at the King's School in Rochester where pupils are known as Roffensians and former pupils are Old Roffensians. So there you go..... |

Well, pretty boring here. Obviously Chance is my first name but the 97 comes from my racing days. It was the number I used in my motocross racing. I chose 97 because that was the year I got back into racing after a long lay off. |

Pretty self explanatory, at least to me. I live in Texas, and I'm a Black belt in Karate. |

I'm a part time pilot, and I've used Flynbyu as a screen name for years. When I owned my sportbike, I had Flynbyu as my personalized plate. When my 2008 Corvette arrives, I'll try to convince my wife to use it for our personalized license plate too. ~Brian |

A long time back when I had my first PC with XP on it, XP asked us to name the computer when we were setting it up, we commented that it was a bit of a beast so called it The Beast. Then when we set are own profiles up on the Pc it seemed right to be Beastmaster, as I was master of the beast so to speak. At the time I had never heard of The Beastmaster who is a Tarzan like hunky character who talks to animals. Now when people meet me they seem kinda disappointed that I'm not a blonde muscular type in a loin cloth! ![]() We are also into BMW Minis and I use the same name on MINI forums that I am a member of too! |
