Spartan's plight with his fraud is well documented. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11687
He mentioned that it will cost $1500 for him to fly to Israel to find the perpetrator.
I will be the first (and likely only, but maybe not.. hence this post) to offer my help.
Spartan, if you collect enough other willing participants I will be the first to pedge $100 toward your ticket to Israel. This will allow you to find Mr. Lugas and then, after procurring whichever watch you decide you want, either;
A) Turn him over to authorities, or (my personal choice)
B) Turn him over to a Trauma Surgeon after a go with a tire iron, a pair of plyers and a blowtorch (Pulp Fiction)
All I ask in return is a picture to post that will serve as a deterrent to other potential scammers. Much like they did in the old west, a picture is often more dissuading than the thought of punishment.
BTW: Yes, please post a picture of this hunk of crap. Nice to have an actual face to hate.
BTW2: I am not kidding. I have a serious betrayal problem, and have gone to much greater lengths myself to seek satisfaction.
The offer is open. My contribution is pledged. It only takes others to follow.
We are a small and I think collegial group, I would like to keep that. Let's help a brother out.

Spartan, Do you have a home address to this guy? Let me know.
Bonedoc, I agree that something needs to be done.

I don't know how serious you are, but let me be a voice of reason and point some things out:
1) What you're contemplating is a conspiracy to commit a felony. You would be just as legally liable as if you held the pliers and blowtorch yourself.
2) This guy very likely has military training. Everyone in Israel serves in the military. Many are in the reserves and have military weapons available to them. I'm not saying that all Israelis are Rambo, but you better know what you're getting yourself into.
3) Nothing you do is going to bring the watch back. There's an old saying, "when setting on a course of revenge, dig two graves".

Entertaining post, BoneDoc, but to the extent that you're serious I'm afraid I have to agree with dhalem.

Israel would not be one of the best places in the world to be playing vigilante.

Gentlemen: I mention the vigilantism as the less serious of the options, obviously. I understand quite well the culture as societal underpinnings in Israel, particularly as it pertains to its millitarism. That said, to present in country to the appropriate authorities with all needed documentation of the fraud is MUCH more likely to lead to a timely resolution than to pursue the matter from 10000 miles away. That is the serious side of my prior post. How Spartan choses to handle his affairs is entirely up to him. The offer stands.

He got you too?!! We MUST go there straight away

(serious hat on now) BD - fair point, and an undeniably noble gesture. No offence meant by my previous post.

I dont agree with the going to israel but but I would contribute to a fund that bought a watch to replace spartans loss that is a much better option and its legal :lingsrock: I think that would be a much better idea and we could all chip in and hopefully replace his loss and let the legal channels deal with the creep :guns:

While I feel sorry for Spartan, and it sucks to be scammed like this, I have to say that this does seem like it was somewhat preventable. I believe in the maxim "Buy the Seller". When this scammer posted his SA for sale here, it immediately screamed scam to me. First post, fuzzy pictures, selling a desirable product. I didn't say anything because it wasn't my place, but my personal alarm went off.

Trade deals are also worse than others. With straight sales you have some recourse if you use paypal and a credit card. Without an escrow agent, there's not much you can do to make it safe for either party. Again, checking references and doing some background on the person you're dealing with is really important.

Once again, I'm really sad for Spartan. I don't mean to blame the victim here, but I think there are some lessons here.

Yes I agree that we should always buy the seller FIRST...but in all honesty, I, as stupid as this may seem, bought
the BreitlingSource first...because I too believe we have something special around here....
I would have NEVER imagined that a scammer could sneak up in our BS backyard ....

Thanks for caring guys.... and BONEY 8)...check your PM
