With a wife and four kids it's not likely to be sporty but this has been a great car...

Love that 5 series, that is just timeless design that.

And the 3series which quite clearly is close to my heart. That mountain cafe seems so familiar, but I can't quite name it, where was that?

Btw, doesn't quite look like you had never flown anything ;)

Well, thank you Nav01L.

IMO the E39 has aged much better than the E61 which already looks out of time and dépassé. In fact, it doesn't look so far from the F10/F11.

That little café is La Boille au Cerf and it's just above Vevey, not far off from the Châtel St. Denis exit on the A12. They make the most exquisite macaronis du chalet I've ever tasted together with home-made ham. But you mustn't be on a diet. The all-around view is awesome: to one side the Lake Léman and to the other Broc and the Lake of Gruyère. We can meet there sometime when you're in the area. :)

We sure can, I am originally from Lausanne and still spend a lot of time there, so we'll just see when we find a moment :)

As to the E61, not sure if I ever liked it ... Even new. The only... no, not "good"... "acceptable" part of it was the back end and that was just because having that in front of you meant you didn't have to look at the front bit ;)

In all seriousness, this car, if anything has contributed massively in making the Audi A6 a bestseller, not BMW's finest hour.

They have reverted to a very nice range now though. The new 5er is nothing short of gorgeous, the E91 and 92 are among the prettiest cars they've ever made, the F 30 is a bit aggressive for a saloon, but will be brilliant as a coupe, the new one series takes a lot of getting used to, but is not per se ugly and the 7, although a bit clunky, looks pretty sharp in the flesh... A good line up end to end... It had been a while (ok, fair enough, with the X1, 5GT and 6 still being made, not quite end to end yet)...

Does it take all those tools in the boxes on the wall to keep that Jensen-Healey alive? Don't see those very often - nice!

You can't see the other boxes of just parts for that thing. They are getting more and more rare that one has been lowerd and some other minor changes only 65000 miles from 1975. Thanks for noticing the car up here in NH nobody know what a jensen healey is.

well, in my book a Jensen Healey is about as exotic as it gets, a courageous choice and a beautiful car, congrats.
