Disappointing that the cricket technology seems to be so flawed. I say remove the technology altogether. There's been too much talk about it and it's taking the focus off the game.

Good start by Australia. The top order can actually bat from appearances. Solid knock by Rogers and Clark, who thankfully is still in. Would be good to post a score.

I'd say the technology itself is fine but the policies governing its use and the implementation in the moment are both flawed.

Definitely Australia's day today - would be nice to see the series become a contest - as long as England still ends up winning of course

It's nice to see Michael Clarke show what he can do. He's a much better batsman than he has demonstrated so far. Last year, Clarke registered scores of 329*, 210, 259* and 230, the first man in history to hit four dbl tons in a calendar yr. He averaged 117 and scored 1271 runs.

Clarke can seriously bat. Great knock again; inspirational particularly considering the 1st two tests.

Looks like we're going to post a very good score. Now it's up to the bowlers, which is a good thing.

And the tail wagging again - unbeaten 97 for the 8th wicket prior to the declaration and some nervous innings ahead before the close of play for England. Great job by Australia, and yet another great knock by Clarke.

Looks like it's set up for a draw on this pitch, but England could have some very difficult moments with a smart declaration and some aggressive bowling late today.

Yep. Stark, Siddle and Harris need to break the top order of England. Definitely a new ball pitch. Once it softens the batting gets much easier.

With a terrible forecast and no play likely tomorrow I think everything hinged on the follow-on: once England escaped that they were probably in the clear. They certainly got lucky with the rain but you can usually rely on Manchester for that!

Ok, so I'm a pretty mild mannered guy, but it's hard not to fume about DRS when it upholds the Umpire's wrong decision on an LBW! Trott clearly out to Harris but instead of DRS overturning the decision it leaves it as Umpire's call despite hitting in line and hitting leg!

Edit: Thankfully the mistake was short lived! 5 minutes and two runs.
Edit 2: But now i have to say i think KP was ripped off.

Oh the drama!

England are batting like they didn't expect to have to. They don't deserve to escape this Test and it'd be good for the series if they don't.

The series really is showing the challenges with DRS as currently used. England's rain dance looks like it has been successful, and it was starting to look like it was their only chance.

TomP - I agree completely, an Australia win would have been great for the series and would also have been deserved in this match.

Not on TV, just Internet.
