You wouldn't want to share would ya? 8)

Is it forbidden in the USA?

The PROPER Absinthe is hard to come by here in the UK too. There's a watered down version available here, but the proper stuff from your neck of the wood Bnewbie is probably something to behold!

It was, but the ban was lifted in 2007. Still, our absinthe must be thujone free, which sort of defeats the purpose of it. Ive ordered some of the good stuff online before though and had no problems with customs.

Hill's is the best.

I try to always have a bottle in the bar, but wouldn't want to get caught in the customs. At 70%ABV it's classified as light narcotics in most countries.

does that mean I could get it in with my valid narcotic prescribing license? I would write myself a script for it. That is ok right? Right? Mmmmmmm. Hallucinating drunk!ImageImage

I'm a bit late to the party, as it were, but I enjoy all manner of liquid that kills the brain cells.

When drinking beer, I prefer smaller brewers. My rule is that if it appears to be odd, it'll probably taste great.

I've always been a fan of Bombay Saphire gin, and it's generally found in most watering holes. Having said that, Hendricks Gin makes a nice martini, topped with a slice of cucumber in warmer climes, and a blue cheese stuffed olive or two while it's cold outside.

I LOVE a good red wine, and am partial to every manner of snooty French grape juice, but also love some of the great reds coming out of Oz and, of course, California. I've two cases of the 2002 Meeker Merlot of Sonoma left, and it's a great table red to match up with a nice slab of beef. Thank you, Charlie Meeker, for making it easy to purchase them when you could have taken me to the bank. You didn't, and for that, I'll always be loyal.

I was able to snatch a bottle of Hennesy Ellipse (don't ask, as I won't tell...). Apparently, the bottle is worth a lot. Whatever. Either way, the previous owner won't be missing it.

Now when it comes to Scotch Whiskey, I prefer the following (in alphbetical order, if you please!):
-Aberlour
-Caol Ila
-Laphroaig

I know absolutely nothing about how to rate vodka. I do know that inside Russia, it appears to be better. Here in the States, though, I stick to Grey Goose. I just like it, that's all.

Hmmm. Methinks I should stop, as it appears I might have a problem...

Since this thread has been revived  from quite some time ago...

Interesting that you should mention Hills Absinthe bnewbie...when I was in Prague I was told by the locals that Hills was the best, looks like I wasn't the only one. Good stuff!! Also sampled some quality (I think) absinthe in Amsterdam. The options were 70%, 80% or 90%. Obviously we went for the 90% :guns:

I like premium Australian beers - Boags and Cascade and the new low joule beers Hahn Super Dry and Blonde.
My favourite international beer is Carlsberg, mothers milk when I lived in the UK. I'm also partial to Guinness and some of the local ales (can't remember them all).

Spirits I can't look past Bundy Rum  or a good Bourbon whisky - Jack Daniels (the aged stuff) and Makers Mark.

Also big into wine, primary reds (Shiraz, Cab Sav)...the more expensive, generally the higher the quality and therefore the better

Good thread!

Makers Mark and Crown Royal Reserve do it for me and when I want to go cheap San Miguel beer, the real stuff from the Philippines not the imported brew.

I guess Mario and I have similar taste because my mixed drink of choice is Captin Morgan & Diet Cola (prefer Diet Pepsi) with a lime.. hell yeah!

For the occational shot I much prefer Southern Comfort and chase it with a diet pepsi. Damn that stuff is smooth and has a sweet aftertaste when you hit the tast buds with the diet soda afterwards.

For wine I like Cabs and Merlot as long as they arent to dry (im very anti gin). Best reds I ever had were a 2003 Cakebread and a 1992 Kendal Jackson private reserve. I bought the latter and (thank goodness, my uncle purchased the 5 bottles we went through of the Cakebread!)
