It just gets better and better, next the gavel will be made of timber from the Ark.

This timepiece is growing on me.

There is nothing you could actually get for that watch that can come within hailing distance of its intrinsic value not only for hilarity, but as a truly thoughtful* gift - however misguided - from a grateful person who valued your help. Honestly, I don't see how you can part with it.

*I am relying heavily on the axiom, "It's the thought that counts."

I never said anything about wearing it.

I just read that thread. I only wish H2F had been right: if sincere, a statement like, "I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the rainbow of the very spectrum that I provide," would rival Charlie Sheen's most absurd aphorisms for insanity-inspired genius.

Sharkie, what's the booklet under the golden scale supposed to be? And why an-old fashioned phone with a cut-off cord? What's the symbolism? Why not a mobile phone?

Oh boy, maybe they ran short of scavenged parts from current Barbie playhouses.

OK, for those who are unfamiliar with traditional legal symbolism, allow me to help:

- The scale represents drug dealers, whom lawyers often represent. Anybody who knows drug dealer behavior knows dealers usually carry scales with them.

- The hammer represents one of the many weapons used by murderers, especially those who kill their wives. Again, murderers are clients of many lawyers, especially successful lawyers. Representing a murderer is a sign of prosperity and pride for a criminal defense lawyer.

- The telephone represents the calls clients make to their lawyers from jail. It looks old fashioned because that's the kind of phone they have in jail.

- The pen is more of a metaphor: it demonstrates how attorneys "write off" their clients after they lose at trial and are sentenced to many consecutive prison terms.

- The booklet represents the contact information of all the women successful male lawyers manage to bag during their careers. Being a lawyer is a major babe magnet, unless of course, you wear a watch like this.

There. I hope this helps clear things up.

That's very interesting indeed Jackson but it looks like mostly US traditional legal symbolism.

Here in Switzerland when you deal drugs you get out after 24 h and if you kill someone you get out after 4 or 5 years with good behavior.

Be aware however if you're a driver and you're caught speeding over 20 miles above the limit. You might have wished you've been a drug dealer.
