5,800 American troops dead.

20,000 American troops injured.

HUNDREDS of thousands of Iraqis, Pakistanis, and Afghan civilians dead.

TRILLIONS of dollars spent on bombs, bullets, and "nation building" as we hunted this man down.

That's a steep f-cking price to pay in the name of "justice."

May God have mercy on us all.

F*** YEAH!!! If it was one of my family members that was killed in Ground Zero, you better believe I want my government to spend all that and MORE to avenge my loved one!!! :guns:

Osama was cancer. If we have left him alone, we'll now be dealing with thousands upon thousands more just like him -- only younger & stronger.

I think your wrong I think it will have the effect of making a new even worse Osama-a-like who wants to name a name for himself, I think it was a no win situation you cant leave him alone but killing him will cause a lot these fanatics to try to strike back. Look at whats happened in the rest of the region now Sadam has gone did it stop the killing no it made it worse and this wont stop that in the slightest.

Well I think you're wrong. I think everything you've said in this thread is wrong, but you're allowed your opinion just like H2F is. How many Iraqis have you spoken to? The ones I've spoken with are happy that Saddam is gone, yeah they'd like us to get out of there but the ones that I've spoken with are actually greatful that that madman is no longer in power. Bin laden needed to die, he was responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people and no matter what other psychos may do the world is a better place without either Saddam or bin laden in it. But that's just my opinion.

I'm not American and didn't lose anyone on September 11 so i couldn't pretend to understand the depth of feeling involved. I felt a grim satisfaction in hearing that Osama Bin Laden was dead. I certainly wasn't jubilant; I'm not sure i could be jubilant after so many people have died in the past 10 years. But i did feel a sense of justice for the victims. Its right that he be punished. I agree with Roff about the burial. Despite his guilt, his religion ought to be respected in his death. My guess is that it would have been.

Difference is Osama-a-like don't have real Osama's millions & charisma.

You're entitled to your opinion of course, but I don't get the fatalism. If I have cancer in my body, I would do everything in my power to fight it, even if it comes back, even if it kills me. Cause if I don't, the cancer's just gonna continue killing me & I'd still be dead, no?

Personally, I'd much rather die fighting -- cause then at least there's the chance of beating the cancer -- the POSSIBILITY OF PEACE, no???

Now this I agree with. Remember the Pres (Bush that is) declared this a "War on Terrorism." Iraq and Afganistan are 10 year battles in that war. There is no end point to a blanket War on Terrorism. There may be surrogate end points along the way - Osama's death, new regimes in Iraq and Afganistan - but they aren't true end points. Smoldering embers will always ignite new fires with time.

I am not and have never been optimistic the declared purpose will have an end point anymore than 'The War on Drugs" will.

Its a very basic and sad fact that there is too much money to be made from wars, I know thats not going to be a popular opinon but its the truth.

I'm sorry for your loss, but you will never convince me that the the killing of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians over the last decade, combined with the trillions of dollars spent on guns and bombs, was worth the price to "avenge" 3,000 dead Americans. The sheer amount of collateral damage left in the wake of finding Bin Laden is mind boggling.

It's like torching an entire forest to flush out a fox that's stealing your chickens.

The end doesn't justify the means.

If you read my thread at the bottom of page 2, you'll see that the Americans took special care to respect his religion right to the last detail.

Unfortunately, nobody believes you roman. For most out there Americans are just invaders. You can shout out loud all you want that the majority of the Iraqis are grateful to America, they'll say it's American propaganda. And since the press is, in its great majority anti-American, they tell the story as they want it to be and one that, usually does not reflect actual facts.

Page 1 of newspapers in Switzerland was: Bin Laden: executed!". Now they must explain to me how an armed guy, who took shield behind a woman during the shooting was "executed". Pathetic.

So, if Osama was executed, what were the thousands that were killed in the Twins? I'm not American but I lost a very dear friend who was a trader and I can tell you, his parents and his family were glad that we got the bastard.

There is a panel at Splash Mountain at Disney World that says: You can't run away from trouble, ain't no place that far. Well, it may have taken almost 10 years but we've got him.

And may I add, America didn't start this.

Now you've lost me completely. Which "HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT CIVILIANS" were killed as the price to avenge Ground Zero?? And who supposedly did all the killing??? Really????

Does anyone actually believe that if only the US had stopped pursuing Bin Laden way back when, the world would be a better place today?? That NOT pursuing or provoking this terrorist will somehow stop him from continuing his acts of terror??? Come on!!

Osama was NOT the US' personal terrorist -- He was the WORLD's! Here in Indonesia, Bin Laden financed bombing which killed hundreds in Bali & Jakarta. Although the victims were mostly foreigners in Indonesia, the legacy of his act of terror is very much felt by every single one of the Indonesian people who now have to go through vehicle searches, metal detectors, and bag/purse checks, that since the bombing has become the mandatory security procedures of every shopping centres, office buildings, and hotels in every major cities in Indonesia -- up to today with no end in sight! And nope, being the world's LARGEST Muslim country who never did do anything to Osama made zero difference.

Personally, I THANK GOD the US has the resources, the means, the will power, the guts, and the perseverence to pursue this animal!
