Once internet access becomes available on long-haul flights (let me dream, guys), it won't be nearly so unpleasant, I think...

Already available Anez....problem is battery life and recharging now...but once they provide power strips...woohoo!! I've used it on one flight, but then my battery crapped out on me...grrrr. Below is the link for the site:

Twelve bucks for twenty-four hours?! That's cheaper than most hotel wifi!

This I would happily pay for. Forget first class, stick me in a corner on the floor-- so long as I have internet access, I'll be perfectly happy. (Not... that I'm addicted, or anything.) I had heard it was available ages ago, but the last time I flew to the States (about eighteen months ago) I asked the stewardess and she didn't know anything about it, so I thought it was some kind of wonderful dream I'd had... Wonder if there's something comparable in Europe?

I'll definitely keep my eyes open for this in future-- thanks, F14D_Tomcat, Montexn. Also: consider an Ipad. The battery life is pretty solid and they're a lot easier for travelling with than a netbook, in my experience. So long as you just want to surf (non-Flash sites) and make the occasional comment online, the onscreen keyboard is pretty handy. Then again, for the price point of a decent iPad, you could probably pick up a netbook with a very long life battery...

I've been plugging my laptop into the seatback in front of me for 4 years or more - even on domestic flights in Canada.
