It's getting worse now at 213-9. Still, we have to see how the Aussies bat yet.

Not sure what the weather forecast is, but if it's not awful then looks like someone is going to take a 1-0 lead.

Forecast is perfect Roff. A result for sure.

At 215 all out I'm not sure that we now have the same definition of "perfect"

Sheesh 2/19, not a good start either by the Aussies, who have a much weaker batting line up than England to be fair. Will definitely be a result in this test (weather-dependent); in 3 days by the look of things.

True of both teams at the moment - bad news for all those with 4th-day tickets!

Incredible last wicket stand by Australia - virtually doubling the score and Agar doing most of the scoring. Game would be effectively over if not for him.

Indeed. There was a stumping shout when he was in single figures but the third umpire didn't give it when most commentators thought it was out. Looks like being a crucial moment.

Agar was playing for Henley six weeks ago - it's a great story:

Watching Mark Taylor speaking on Aussie TV at lunch. Made the perfect assessment. Phil Hughes has succeeded because he put his ego away and showed the proper respect for the bowlers. Too many of our guys out to ambitious shots, looking to dominate the bowling. They haven't learned they're not Adam Gilchrist or Matt Hayden (who is?). Agar is obviously an anomaly but hopefully the top and middle order will model themselves on Phil Hughes in the second innings. As an aside i hate what 20/20 cricket has done to our game.

More twist and turns than a twisty turny thing ! 117-9 to 280 AO. Pity the lad never got his hundred. I think Lehmann slipped up by not having him open the innings !! I don't think he'll bat at 11 again ever !!!!

Just saw the score - incredible. Once again the top order folds like a house of cards but yet again the tail wags - vigorously! Great work Agar, pity he didn't get his ton, and good work from Phil Hughes and Smith. Should be an interesting 2nd innings. Based on what we've seen so far, there'll be a result tonight

2 down already. Might be over by this evening the way it's going.

Yeah, including a golden, but looks like things are stabilising. Only 8 more to avoid an innings defeat!!!

Always a joy to see a new young player's hard work in the past pay off in debut :-)

Once again I'm in complete agreement with you.

Nice to see a competitive couple of days, but (without meaning to be too negative) I am still very concerned about the fragility of our batting line-up. A collapse like that in their first outing for the series is not encouraging. Can't rely on the rookie number 11 to save the innings every time (well done to him though, of course).
