Not yet - I think they were planning to open in time for TIFF, but construction is taking longer than planned (there's a shock). Probably open in the next month or so, but might not be easy to get a table for the first few weeks as it will be the place to be seen again. There are a few obvious places I can think of in the area, but before I throw out specifics can people give me an idea of what kind of price level they are comfortable with.

Assuming a weekday lunch, Yorkville restaurants will run from $12 - $35 for a main - do you want me to try and limit suggestions to part of that range?

I'm assuming that the real requirement is walking distance of La Swiss (the bronze Montbrillant Legende is still there along with close to 50 of it's friends including a number of Bentleys).

basically my recommendations is walking distance between la swiss and the cafe. Price for me is max $50 and even then I'll walk away a little lighter in the pockets. I don't mind eating but i never planned on a huge meal.

Let me have a think and get back to everyone. If food doesn't work then we can always just stick to Starbucks - should come in at only about $20 a head

Saturday will be a problem for me - I travel over 150km each way to get to Toronto during the week, can't really justify it again on the weekend - much as I want to meet everyone.

Give me a day or so and I'll post some ideas - most places have websites now so you can get a feel for them.

hows September 14, 2007 sound to everyone?

I say we assign a date and worst comes to worst if the weather craps out then we can always re-schedule.

Ok, apologies forthe delay - was trying to find a reasonable placed food option - how about 'Fire on the East Side' - http://www.fireontheeastside.ca/. It's technically not Yorkville - is just east of Yonge about 5 minutes walk south of Bloor. It has a small patio out front - just a couple of tables, but it is reasonably priced and the food is good.

If it's more of just afternoon / evening drinks then there are plenty of Starbucks / bars around depending on people's preferences.

My challenge around timing is that I am reliant on GO Transit and my last train leaves Union at 6pm so I am somewhat limited if it's outside of working hours / lunch, but will try and work around the consensus.

Right now I have a meeting from 3pm onwards on the 14th - probably not done until 5:30 which then causes me to dash for the train.

ok well we could do a lunch thing around 12pm if that works for everyone. The only thing is I wont have my ling on because I dont wear it during my working hours so I'd perfer after work that way I can get my stuff together.

Hows Thrusday then? Is there anyway that you can work around the 6pm limit you have Roffensian with GO Transit?

In theory I can work around the limit - drive in that day for example. The problem is that it's a 2 hour drive even if traffic is in my favour and with a 5am start each morning it's both a long day and a little unfair on my wife if I'm that late getting home.

Maybe after dearly beloved's Cockpit Lady arrives I can get away with a little more for a couple of weeks (days!)

Sorry, didn't get to respond.

I cannot make it on Fridays as I have conf calls. Weekends or during the nights are better for me esp no rush.

I can even get together after 9pm since my 2 year old is fast asleep.

I can't make that commitment - sorry. A weekend trip effectively means me giving up a full day, and one of only two days that I get at home each week, as well as a >300km round trip. After 9 would mean that I'd end up having to stay in the city overnight.

Don't let me be the problem with this one - if evenings and weekends work for everyone else then go ahead, maybe we can organise a 2nd one that's more convenient for me.

This kind of died a death, and I'm still a miserable old fart for only wanting to do lunchtimes, but I just had a thought for a location in Bloor / Yorkville that is just perfect for a Breitling get together - The Pilot Tavern - www.thepilot.ca.

Reasonable prices (especially for Yorkville), great food, good selection of beer and about 2 minutes walk from La Swiss on Bloor.

I can probably also arrange with the manager for some 'special' pricing at La Swiss for our visit.
