I emigrated back in 2005, went from the UK to the US after I graduated from University. It has been good to me so far, am earning double what most of my friends are back home with the cost of living here being about half what it is in the UK.

My friends back home are having to get roomies whilst my wife and I are looking at a second home!

We migrated from Holland (The Netherlands) to Australia..........

Although we do miss the dutch culture and people, we are sor of settled and go back home for holidays every 2 or 3 years..........we just returned in August after an 8 week holiday.

It is true, that property prices are cheaper in Australia compared to Europe but the cost of living is becoming now more expensive with every day prices of meat and vegetables much more expensive.

However, I have a very good job that gets paid very well, thus making it hard to move back........we also own 4 investement properties now so it makes it even harder to move back.........

Still miss Holland after all that though but we find that when we are back in Hollnad, we miss Australia and vice versa...........been like that for 20 years now............damn.....!!

I Found this old post,

Like Roff, i also moved from the UK to Canada. I moved over Dec 1999 (Before Y2K Crashed all the aircraft in the world)

Love Canada and would never move anywhere else....... Cost of living is a biggie..... Also hate the attitudes of the people i left behind....

I would go in a heart beat. I have been offered a job in the UAE and seriously considering it. The problem I have in a young family(2 boys 10 and 8). The way the job market is at the minute I will be out of work by March so maybe look at it then.

A very good friend of mine moved to Canada (BC) about 12 years ago, and hasn't looked back. It has crossed my mind too but at the moment I'm finding it quite hard to think about moving to London (25 miles) so not sure I'd be up for emigrating!
